How we research and verify return policies

StoreReturners is an independent publisher. Guides are written by Jimmy Harlan and fact-checked by Kimberly Reeves. It does not sell products, process returns or speak for any retailer. Each guide explains one retailer's return policy for one market, the United States or the United Kingdom.

Where the facts come from

How each guide is checked

  1. Every consequential rule (deadline, fee, condition, exception, refund timing) is recorded with its source page and the date it was read.
  2. A rule the retailer does not state is reported as not stated. It is never assumed to be allowed, banned or free.
  3. After drafting, a separate verification pass compares every number and condition in the guide against the sources.
  4. Before a guide is published, our editor Kimberly Reeves checks it against the retailer's official pages. The guide shows the date of that check.
  5. Guides explain published policies. They do not claim that we bought or returned the items described.

Dates on each guide

"Policy checked" is the date the official pages were last read. "Article updated" changes only when the guide's substance changes. A retailer's own effective date is shown only when the retailer publishes one.

Corrections

When a retailer changes a policy, every guide, table and answer that depends on it is identified and rechecked. Outdated information is corrected quickly, with a dated note on the page.

Independence

We don't claim to speak for any store, and every guide links to the store's own policy.
