JD Return Policy UK: 28 Days, Free Store Returns and Refunds
The JD return policy for JD Sports UK gives JD-sold orders 28 days to return unused items in original packaging, online orders counting from receipt. Store returns are free; shop/kiosk purchases must return to stores. Online orders can be posted; JD doesn’t publish the portal fee. Supplier-delivered items follow partner rules.
Key facts
- JD gives 28 days for online orders and shop purchases; its Delivery & Returns page counts online orders from receipt, but its terms word the clock differently.
- Store returns are free; shop and kiosk purchases must go to a store, and UK-site orders cannot go to overseas JD stores.
- A transaction statement can replace a lost shop receipt; online shoppers can use a despatch email or order confirmation.
- Specified Brand Partner deliveries go back to the supplier free with the supplied label; JD’s partner help says 28 days from delivery, but its terms say 14, so return early.
- A card refund for an online order returned in store starts at the till; JD says it can then take 3–5 working days to reach your account.

How Long Is the JD Sports Return Window?
JD Sports advertises 28 days. The Delivery & Returns page counts online orders from receipt; terms 8.1–8.3 instead describe cancellation within 14 days after receipt, then 28 days to return after notification. JD’s pages word it differently: start within 14 days if possible, then return in store or post with proof inside 28 days of receipt. Confirm your order’s rule with Customer Care.
For shop purchases, JD gives 28 days without defining the start event; count from purchase and return early. Goods must be unused, in good condition, with original packaging; online-to-store returns also need tags and accompanying items. Statutory cancellation has a separate 14-day notice clock, explained below.
Does a posted return have to arrive within 28 days?
JD does not define day 28 as registration, dispatch or arrival, specify calendar/working days, or say whether day one counts. Post several days early with proof, and do not rely on portal registration alone. Statutory cancellation separately counts sending goods back, rather than warehouse arrival.
Is there a JD Christmas return extension for 2026?
JD publishes no 2026 UK Christmas extension; recheck the official returns page before December rather than relying on another market’s offer.
Which Return Route Fits Your JD Order?
Check the seller and sender first.
- Bought in a shop: return to a store.
- Ordered at an in-store kiosk: return to a store.
- Delivered with supplier paperwork: check the partner instructions, including the Nike qualification below.
- Otherwise, for a direct JD online order: choose a JD UK store or JD postal return.
Online and app orders sold by JD
JD’s return instructions allow eligible direct online orders to go to a store or by post. App purchases are included. UK-site orders cannot be returned to JD stores outside the UK, and supplier-delivered items follow the partner route below.
Shop and kiosk purchases
Shop-return help requires store returns for shop purchases. The kiosk FAQ also requires a store return because the distribution centre cannot process kiosk orders.
Brand Partner, VF and Nike-fulfilled orders
JD’s partner help covers supplier deliveries from adidas, Reebok, Under Armour, Timberland, Vans and The North Face: return within 28 days of delivery using the free supplied label. JD’s terms (6.7) instead give 14 days for direct partner returns, without saying when the 14 days start. JD’s pages word it differently: to be safe, send a partner return within 14 days of delivery, and ask Customer Care if your paperwork gives another deadline. Get a replacement label from Customer Care if missing. For adidas and Reebok, enclose the despatch note with your return reason and send the parcel through Royal Mail with the supplied label; Under Armour and VF parcels follow their despatch-note instructions.
For goods sold by VF Northern Europe Services Ltd, section 19 takes precedence: the window starts with possession of the last product, and the route names Yodel Collect+. A JD-sold The North Face item remains under JD’s terms; the logo alone does not make it a VF return.
Nike needs confirmation. The partner FAQ accepts Nike-fulfilled goods through JD, and the terms exclude Nike from Brand Partners; the label FAQ groups Nike with direct supplier returns. JD’s pages word it differently. Follow enclosed supplier instructions; without them, ask Customer Care before posting. For purchases placed with Nike itself, see our Nike UK returns guide.
How to Return a JD Sports Order
Eligible JD online orders can go to a store, the designated portal or an independent carrier.
Return to a JD UK store
Use the JD UK Store Finder. Bring the goods, packaging, tags, accompanying items and despatch note or despatch email. Store returns are free. Card-paid online refunds start at the till; see below for PayPal/Klarna conflicts. Keep the return receipt.
Post it through JD’s returns portal
JD’s Delivery & Returns instructions split postal returns by order-number prefix:
- Find the order number on your order paperwork.
- For 19…, use the JD returns portal; for 1100…, use Narvar Easy Returns for JD UK.
- Enter your order number and email; follow label instructions. JD advertises printerless options.
- Keep proof of posting for refund queries.
Other prefixes: contact JD Customer Care. JD does not publish a portal fee, deduction rules, or which carriers and collection or drop-off options you’ll be offered, so check what your order shows before you commit. Refund processing starts when the parcel reaches the warehouse.
Send it yourself by post
For JD orders, the terms allow your own carrier at your cost and risk. Use recorded delivery/courier, keep posting proof, and send to:
JD Sports Internet Returns Door 2, Michael Faraday Avenue Kingsway Business Park Rochdale OL16 4FW
Enclose the despatch note; if missing, include your order number, name, returned items and contact details. Never send partner or kiosk parcels here.
Can You Return to JD Sports Without a Receipt?
Yes, with alternative proof: JD’s shop-return page accepts a statement showing the transaction. Online shoppers can use a despatch email or order confirmation.
JD publishes no no-proof, ID-only or member-lookup route; find evidence or ask Customer Care before travelling. GOV.UK also recognises bank statements as possible legal purchase evidence.
What if the despatch note is missing?
JD cannot replace a despatch note, but accepts the order confirmation email instead. For self-arranged post, enclose order number, name, returned items and contact details. Supplier parcels need their own label/instructions.
Returning a gift bought at JD
JD publishes no gift-receipt or recipient-refund process. Ask the buyer for proof, or contact Customer Care. Online refunds go to the original payment method; don’t assume the recipient receives cash.
Does JD Charge for Returns?
Store returns and partner labels are free; portal fees are unpublished; own-carrier post costs you.
| Method | Cost per JD | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible store return | Free | Store-return help |
| Specified partner label | Free with supplied label | Partner help |
| JD postal portal | Not published | Delivery & Returns |
| Own carrier | Your cost | Terms 8.3–8.5 |
JD’s main policy refunds standard outbound delivery for a whole-order return within the cancellation period; express upgrades are excluded and partial returns may not qualify. The Klarna section instead calls delivery non-refundable. JD’s pages word it differently, but regulation 34 includes standard delivery on qualifying statutory cancellations regardless of payment method. For Klarna, notify cancellation within the statutory 14-day window, return the whole order promptly and check the account; ask Customer Care about any missing delivery refund.
JD lists no restocking or late-return fee; don’t assume free or accepted late returns. Check proposed charges. For accepted faults, the terms cover delivery and return costs.
How Long Do JD Sports Refunds Take?
JD says a till refund for an eligible online-to-store return can take 3–5 working days to reach your account.
All timings below are JD’s or the partner’s stated estimates and aims, not guaranteed maximums.
| Route | Return window | JD/partner processing | Bank or provider posting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online order, store, card | 28 days | At till | 3–5 working days |
| Online order, store, PayPal/Klarna | 28 days | Till per help; warehouse per Delivery & Returns | 3–5 working days after warehouse receipt per Delivery & Returns |
| JD portal post | 28 days | Refund FAQ: expects transit within 10 days of carrier handover, aims to process within 14 days of arrival; delivery page: 10 working days transit, then 3–5 working days processing/credit | Refund FAQ: expects posting within 5 working days of refund starting |
| Brand Partner | 28 days from delivery (terms: 14) | Up to 14 days from partner receipt, combined estimate | Not published separately |
| VF-sold | 28 days from possession of last product | Checks up to 2–3 business days after carrier delivery | Then up to 14 days for account credit |
| Shop purchase, store return | 28 days | Not published | Not published |
For post, the refund FAQ gives the longer staged sequence; Delivery & Returns gives the alternative sequence in the table. JD’s pages word it differently. These are JD’s estimates for ordinary returns under its voluntary policy: once they have passed, chase through missing-refund help with your tracking evidence, and don’t add the stages up into a guaranteed date. If you cancelled an online order under the legal 14-day right, the statutory deadline in the table below applies instead: JD must refund within 14 days of receiving the goods or your proof of sending, whichever is earlier. Chase then; bank posting can take a little longer.
For VF sales, the partner FAQ summarises 14 days from receipt, but section 19 specifies checks followed by account credit. For an ordinary return, allow the VF contract’s stages before chasing VF Northern Europe Services Ltd; for a statutory cancellation, the legal deadline below applies instead.
PayPal and Klarna refunds
JD’s store-return help says all online payment methods are refunded at the till; Delivery & Returns sends PayPal/Klarna returns to the warehouse, while terms 8.3 mention cards only. JD’s pages word it differently: expect the warehouse route for PayPal/Klarna and ask Customer Care about your order. Keep the store receipt or Klarna Return Label.
JD says registered Klarna partial returns produce an adjusted schedule; full returns refund collected payments and cancel future scheduled payments. Keep postal proof and check the revised account, including the delivery-charge issue above.
Gift cards, JD Cash and JD STATUS
JD’s refund help sends online refunds to the original method; the gift-card share returns as an e-gift card, so check spam/junk. JD STATUS terms remove JD Cash earned on returned items. Fully JD Cash-paid goods restore JD Cash without a cash refund; mixed payments split between JD Cash and the original payment method.
Example: Assume an eligible full return of a £100 order paid with £20 JD Cash and £80 by card: £20 returns to JD STATUS and £80 to the card. No posting date is promised.
Can You Exchange Items at JD Sports?
JD’s main policy says no direct exchanges, so return for a refund and reorder. Delivery & Returns instead advertises exchanges within 28 days, excluding Klarna. JD’s pages word it differently: ask the store about your order, but plan on refund-and-rebuy, especially when sizes may sell out.
For JD Cash, the narrower membership terms require refund-and-rebuy, although the STATUS FAQ describes exchange balance adjustments; confirm with Customer Care. Partner help consistently excludes exchanges.
JD Sports Return Exclusions and Conditions
Under JD’s voluntary policy:
- Underwear: non-refundable for hygiene reasons; faulty-goods legal rights remain separate.
- Swimwear: hygiene seal must remain intact, and returns must go to a store; ask Customer Care if supplier routing also applies.
- Personalised goods: only accepted if faulty or the personalisation text is wrong; use Customer Care via the personalised-order help.
These are JD’s own rules. For an online order, the legal 14-day cancellation right is lost for hygiene-sealed goods only once they are unsealed after delivery (CCR 28), so a still-sealed item may qualify; notify cancellation in time and ask Customer Care which seller and address to use.
JD publishes no general sale, trainer-launch, socks or electronics exclusions here; check item-specific conditions. The old Nike section 18 applies only to orders before 14 September 2022.
Faulty JD Items and Your UK Consumer Rights
How JD handles faulty or wrong items
For goods arriving faulty, damaged or incorrect, JD’s help page says take the item and despatch note to a store or contact Customer Care; images, video or inspection may be requested. Follow supplier routing where applicable.
For developed faults, JD’s help says stores may refund after inspection or send goods to the warehouse team: keep the retention receipt. The inspection FAQ says JD will write within 14 days of receiving goods sent to it directly; for items a store forwards, it says you’ll hear within 14 days of the decision, but not how long the assessment itself takes. Ask the store or Customer Care for an update if you hear nothing.
Terms 8.8 describe returning within 30 days of receipt, while developed-fault help gives longer brand routes. JD’s pages word it differently: report faults promptly and ask Customer Care which route applies; neither wording ends statutory rights. Nike-supplied goods can be assessed in a JD UK store up to two years from purchase with order confirmation or despatch note.
The fault FAQ gives one year from the purchase date for adidas, Reebok, Under Armour, Timberland and The North Face; Vans is omitted. For VF-sold goods, section 19 instead gives two years from purchase, or longer where local law provides it and takes precedence. Check the seller with Customer Care; two years is not a universal JD guarantee.
Terms 8.14 allow up to 30 days from return for faulty refunds/replacements, but CRA section 20 requires a rejection refund within 14 days of agreement that you are entitled. JD’s wording cannot extend that legal deadline. Keep the agreement; chase overdue refunds with Customer Care.
What UK law gives you separately
| Right | Clock or condition | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Online cancellation notice | Normally 14 days after possession; last delivery for goods ordered together but delivered separately | CCR 30 |
| Sending cancelled goods back | Without undue delay, within 14 days after notice; normally your cost if properly disclosed unless seller pays | CCR 35, as made |
| Cancellation refund | Without undue delay, within 14 days after receipt or earlier sending evidence where collection not offered; original means unless agreed otherwise, no reimbursement fee | CCR 34 |
| Cancellation delivery/handling | Standard outbound delivery included, express uplift excluded; handling beyond shop-style inspection can reduce refund | CCR 34 |
| Short-term rejection for qualifying faults | Normally 30 days starting after possession/ownership, delivery and required installation; repair waiting can pause it | CRA 22 |
| Repair/replacement | Reasonable time, without significant inconvenience, necessary costs paid by seller; subject to impossibility/disproportionality | CRA 23 |
| Six-month presumption | For relevant remedies, fault generally presumed present on delivery unless rebutted or incompatible; no automatic refund | CRA 19 |
| Warranty expiry | Does not itself end statutory rights | GOV.UK |
| Purchase proof | A bank statement can count | GOV.UK |
| Shop change of mind | No general legal refund right; JD’s 28 days is voluntary | GOV.UK |
| Rejection costs/refund | Seller bears reasonable return costs, except personal return to original possession location; refund within 14 days of agreed entitlement | CRA 20 |
JD’s fault help ties handling to warranty periods, but GOV.UK says repair/replacement rights may survive warranty expiry. Raise statutory rights with Customer Care if warranty wording prevents progress.
This guide cannot establish live portal fees/carriers or resolve JD’s conflicting pages for an individual order. Read how StoreReturners checks retailer policies, and get order-specific confirmation before choosing a disputed route.
JD Return Policy Mistakes That Cost You Money
- Routing by logo can send a JD-sold or VF-sold item to the wrong seller: check the paperwork.
- Posting swimwear overlooks JD’s voluntary store-only rule and intact-seal condition.
- Registering on day 28 assumes an unpublished deadline rule: obtain proof of posting well inside the window.
- Returning only part of an order may leave the original delivery charge unrefunded.
- Expecting cash for a JD Cash-paid item overlooks restoration to the rewards balance.
- Discarding a faulty item’s retention receipt loses evidence of the inspection handover.

FAQ
Can I return a JD UK online order to a JD store abroad?
No. JD’s UK policy says purchases from the UK website cannot be returned to JD stores outside the UK. Use an eligible UK store or the postal route for your order, subject to supplier restrictions. Check routing and keep purchase evidence before travelling.
Can I return trainers I’ve worn outside?
JD’s voluntary policy requires unused goods, so outdoor-worn trainers fall outside that route unless they are faulty, which falls under your separate legal rights. Statutory cancellation permits shop-style handling; more extensive use can justify a value deduction. Describe any fault accurately rather than presenting worn goods as an unused change-of-mind return.
Does JD STATUS give members a longer return window?
JD publishes no longer membership window or waived postal fee. Its STATUS FAQ says the returns policy applies to all purchases. Use the ordinary deadline and check any portal charge; membership affects JD Cash removal or restoration, rather than establishing extra time to return.
Are purchases on the JD app covered by the same returns policy?
Yes. JD’s terms define the website to include the JD mobile app, so direct app purchases fall within the same terms. The seller and fulfilment route still matter: supplier-direct items need the appropriate partner instructions. Check who sold and sent the item before choosing store or postal return.
Can I send back a personalised football shirt I no longer want?
No, under the JD return policy, personalised goods are accepted only if faulty or the personalisation text is wrong. Contact JD Customer Care about either issue before sending the shirt. A change of preference alone does not qualify; statutory rights for a faulty or misdescribed item remain separate.
