Hobby Lobby Return Policy: 90 Days, No Receipt Rules and Refunds

The return policy Hobby Lobby publishes for US stores allows 90 days from purchase with the original receipt for exchange, credit or original-payment refund. Without it, Hobby Lobby may offer exchange or merchandise credit at the previous 60 days’ lowest selling price, with valid ID. HobbyLobby.com orders also have 90 days. (Store policy; online policy.)

Key facts

  • Store purchases with the original receipt have a 90-day window for exchange, credit or a refund based on original payment.
  • Without the receipt, exchange or lowest-60-day-price merchandise credit requires valid ID; Hobby Lobby may limit or refuse the return.
  • Eligible online returns at stores receive full purchase-price gift-card credit; mailed returns go to the credit card used, or a gift card for gift-card-funded purchases.
  • Online mail returns require the printable form and customer-paid postage; allow up to two weeks for processing and refund issuance.
  • Cricut machines require the original receipt and new, unopened condition; official pages differ on restrictions for other craft-machine brands.

This guide covers Hobby Lobby store purchases and items sold and shipped by HobbyLobby.com, which have separate rules. Purchases from resellers or other sellers are not covered by Hobby Lobby’s pages. Browse more US store return guides for purchases elsewhere.

How Long Do You Have to Return Something to Hobby Lobby?

Hobby Lobby gives 90 days from purchase for store purchases with the original receipt; online orders also have a 90-day return window. The policies do not specify calendar versus business days or a cutoff time, so return a few days early.

Online orders are governed by the Terms Of Sale in force when ordered.

When does the 90 days start for online orders?

Hobby Lobby explicitly counts online-to-store returns from purchase: complete the store return within 90 days. Its mail instructions do not separately identify the start event or say whether posting, a carrier scan or arrival satisfies the deadline.

As a precaution, count from the order date and mail early enough to arrive within 90 days. Do not assume delivery adds extra days or that posting on day 90 is sufficient.

Is there a 2026 holiday return extension?

As of October 28, 2026, Hobby Lobby’s return pages publish no 2026 holiday extension, so the standard 90-day rules apply. An extension could still be announced.

Some guides quote a January 31, 2027 deadline; Hobby Lobby’s own pages had not published one as of October 28, 2026. The seasonal bulk restocking fee is a separate standing rule.

Can You Return to Hobby Lobby Without a Receipt?

Yes, Hobby Lobby’s store policy offers an exchange or merchandise credit without the original receipt, subject to acceptance. Valid ID is required, and Hobby Lobby may limit or refuse non-receipted returns; this route does not promise a cash or card refund.

No separate no-receipt time limit is published. The 60 days describes pricing, not a return deadline, and does not mean returns are unlimited. Go as soon as possible. ID types, receipt lookup, gift-receipt treatment and bank-statement substitutions are not specified.

Shoppers who buy supplies at both chains can compare receipt and refund rules in our Michaels return policy guide.

How the 60-day lowest price sets your credit

Hobby Lobby bases no-receipt merchandise credit on the item’s lowest selling price during the previous 60 days, rather than the amount you remember paying.

Example: Assume a store purchase cost $40, the receipt is lost, the lowest selling price in the previous 60 days was $24, you have valid ID and Hobby Lobby accepts the return. The merchandise-credit basis is $24, or $16 less than paid, excluding tax. Keep receipts for seasonal decor and other items whose prices change.

Recovering a lost online invoice

Hobby Lobby requires the invoice for full purchase-price gift-card credit on eligible online-to-store returns. Request a copy at 1-800-888-0321 or through Contact Us.

Your online account shows order history, but Hobby Lobby does not say whether that replaces the invoice, or what a store return without one receives. Get the copy before you go.

Store or Mail: How to Return a Hobby Lobby Online Order

Route Limit Return cost Refund destination Speed Best for
Store Eligible returns under $250; bulk exceptions below No mailing postage; shipping charges not refunded Hobby Lobby gift card Store processing time not published Shoppers happy with a Hobby Lobby gift card
Mail 90-day online window; bulk lines generally use this route Customer-paid postage Original credit card, or gift card if gift-card-funded Allow up to two weeks for processing and issuance Getting money back on the original credit card

Choosing a store avoids postage but means gift-card credit. Mailing preserves the stated credit-card refund destination at the cost of postage and processing time. The online return policy sets the eligibility conditions for both routes.

Returning an online order to a Hobby Lobby store

HobbyLobby.com items totaling less than $250 can be returned or exchanged at any Hobby Lobby store within 90 days of purchase, subject to condition and product restrictions. Bring the invoice for full purchase-price credit to a Hobby Lobby gift card.

Use the Store Finder before traveling. Stores cannot refund shipping charges or accept damaged/defective online goods. Stores also cannot process price adjustments on online purchases. For damaged, defective or incorrect deliveries, contact support first.

Mailing a return to HobbyLobby.com

  1. Download and complete the Online Return Form.
  2. Pack the eligible item with the completed form. Check that the form is inside before sealing.
  3. Address the package to Hobby Lobby, Attention: Returns, 7600 A SW 44th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73179.
  4. Pay return postage. No fixed price, prepaid-label service or required carrier is published.
  5. Tip: Keep tracking and proof of postage so you can document the shipment.
  6. Allow up to two weeks for processing and refund issuance; the policy does not state when that period begins.

The refund covers the purchase price and applicable sales tax, back to the credit card used; gift-card-funded purchases receive a gift card. Hobby Lobby publishes only this form-and-post process; it does not describe a returns portal, prepaid label, pickup or drop-off option. Its pages do not cover mailing back store purchases, so return those in a store.

Bulk orders: the $250 line rule

A single online line totaling $250 or more is a bulk purchase and must go back to HobbyLobby.com. The same conditions also say individual items from the order can be returned at a store. The $250 routing limit is waived for Christmas trees, furniture and wall decor individually priced over $250.

Example 1: Assume two identical seasonal items cost $130 each on one line, the entire line is returned and no category waiver applies. The $260 line meets the bulk threshold and routes to HobbyLobby.com; a seasonal bulk fee may apply.

Example 2: Assume an eligible Christmas tree cost $300 individually and you have the invoice. The over-$250 category waiver applies to routing; it does not waive fees or guarantee acceptance.

Multi-line totals of $250 or more, partial bulk-line returns and named-category items priced exactly $250 are not clearly resolved. Call 1-800-888-0321 or use Contact Us before choosing a route.

Can You Return Opened or Used Items to Hobby Lobby?

Online purchases cannot be returned opened or used under Hobby Lobby’s ordinary return conditions; they must be sellable. Damaged or defective deliveries follow the separate contact-first procedure.

For ordinary store purchases, Hobby Lobby does not publish a general opened/used rule or universal packaging, tags, manuals and accessories checklist. Bring everything that came with the item as a precaution, and ask before opening something you may return. Certain machines have explicit restrictions.

Hobby Lobby Products With Stricter Return Rules

Hobby Lobby’s machine restrictions can remove the ordinary return route once a product is opened.

Can you return a Cricut or sewing machine?

A Cricut machine requires the original receipt and new, unopened condition for return or exchange. Hobby Lobby’s Prohibited Returns page applies that rule to Cricut machines and sewing machines except Singer Stitch Quick; its printable return form words it more broadly, requiring receipt and new, unopened condition for all Silhouette, Sizzix, Cricut, Brother, Singer and Spellbinders products, without the Stitch Quick exception.

Until clarified, treat products from those six brands, including Singer Stitch Quick, as requiring the original receipt and new, unopened condition. Ask before opening: 1-855-329-7060 for store purchases or 1-800-888-0321 for online orders. Both pages direct warranty claims to the manufacturer; opening may remove the ordinary return option without guaranteeing warranty coverage.

Fabric, custom framing and other gray areas

Hobby Lobby’s return pages do not establish blanket exclusions or blanket acceptance for clearance, candy/food, patterns, personalized goods, post-season decor, custom framing or cut fabric. One yardage fabric page points to the general 90-day policy, without settling every cut-fabric purchase.

Returning a purchased gift card is also not addressed. Ask the store before buying custom or cut-to-order goods, and confirm eligibility before returning them.

Does Hobby Lobby Charge a Restocking Fee or Return Shipping?

Hobby Lobby publishes no general restocking fee, but seasonal merchandise from an online bulk purchase may incur a 20% restocking fee. Its online conditions list Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring, Easter, Graduation, Summer, July 4th, Back-to-School and Fall/Thanksgiving.

Charge When it applies Published rule
20% restocking fee Seasonal online bulk merchandise May apply; calculation base and exemptions not published
Return postage Ordinary online mail return Customer pays; fixed price not published
Original shipping and handling Online return Credited only for Hobby Lobby’s error; cannot be refunded at a store
Problem-item return postage Damaged, defective or incorrect online item Not published; ask support before shipping

Do not calculate a dollar restocking deduction without knowing the fee base and whether Hobby Lobby will assess it. Original-delivery credit does not promise a prepaid return label or postage reimbursement. Confirm postage arrangements with support before shipping a problem item.

When Will You Get Your Hobby Lobby Refund?

Allow up to two weeks for a mailed online return to be processed and the refund issued. Hobby Lobby does not state the starting event for that period or additional bank-posting time.

Clock Published timing Unpublished detail
Return window 90 days; purchase start explicit for receipted store and online-to-store returns Separate mail start and posting-versus-arrival milestone: Not published
Hobby Lobby processing Mail: up to two weeks; check purchases: 10-calendar-day wait Mail trigger and general store processing time: Not published
Bank/card posting Not published Additional time after issuance: Not published

Where your refund goes

Purchase and route Published outcome
Store purchase with original receipt Exchange, credit or original-payment refund
Store purchase without original receipt Exchange or lowest-60-day-price merchandise credit, if accepted
Online purchase returned at store Full purchase-price Hobby Lobby gift-card credit with invoice
Online purchase returned by mail Purchase price and applicable tax to original credit card; gift card if gift-card-funded

Other online tenders, split payments, unavailable original cards and gift-receipt refunds are not addressed. Ask support before returning if one of these applies.

Hobby Lobby’s store policy specifies a 10-calendar-day wait for check purchases, with merchandise credit available instead. The policy does not define when the hold starts.

Exchanges at Hobby Lobby

Hobby Lobby allows receipted store exchanges within 90 days and no-receipt exchanges through the discretionary ID-based route. Eligible online purchases can also be exchanged at stores under the online-to-store conditions.

For an online exchange, place a new order and return the unwanted item for refund. Separate fees, price protection, stock holds and delivery-charge waivers are not published. Confirm the replacement cost before ordering; damaged deliveries require support first.

What If Your Hobby Lobby Order Arrives Damaged or Wrong?

Contact Hobby Lobby before returning damaged, defective or incorrect online merchandise: call 1-800-888-0321 or use Contact Us. Customer-service hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Central.

Keep the goods and shipping box. Damaged/defective online merchandise cannot be returned at stores. The problem-item instructions do not publish a separate reporting deadline, guaranteed refund versus replacement, or photo requirements. Ask about postage before sending anything; original shipping is credited only for Hobby Lobby’s error.

For faulty store purchases, a separate remedy procedure is not published; ask store-location support at 1-855-329-7060.

Hobby Lobby directs warranty claims to the manufacturer. Warranty rights are separate from the 90-day policy; the FTC’s warranty guidance recommends keeping records and checking actual coverage, with implied-warranty rights depending on state law. The FTC Cooling-Off Rule does not add three days for normal store or entirely online purchases.

Unpublished details and the differing brand restrictions prevent a guaranteed outcome for every item. Read how StoreReturners checks official policies, then confirm unresolved eligibility with Hobby Lobby before taking an irreversible step such as opening a restricted product.

Hobby Lobby Return Policy Mistakes to Avoid

  • Treating the 60-day price lookback as a deadline, or assuming no-receipt returns are unlimited.
  • Expecting an online-to-store return to refund your credit card rather than a gift card.
  • Opening a Cricut or another listed brand’s product before deciding to keep it.
  • Driving a damaged online delivery to a store instead of contacting support first.
  • Mailing near day 90 without knowing whether arrival is required.

The return policy Hobby Lobby publishes rewards shoppers who keep receipts and invoices, pick the refund route deliberately and act well inside 90 days.

FAQ

Can Hobby Lobby look up my receipt with my card or phone number?

Hobby Lobby does not publish a store receipt-lookup service by card or phone number. An online account provides order history, which does not establish store-transaction lookup. For an online invoice copy, call 1-800-888-0321 or use Contact Us; do not assume a bank statement replaces the receipt.

Can I return a gift to Hobby Lobby?

Hobby Lobby does not specify gift-receipt treatment or gift-recipient refund destinations. A store purchase without its original receipt uses the discretionary exchange or merchandise-credit route, with valid ID. If the giver can pass you the original receipt, the receipted 90-day options apply; any refund is based on the original payment.

Can I return something to Hobby Lobby after 90 days?

Don’t count on it. Hobby Lobby publishes a 90-day window for receipted store purchases and online orders and promises no refund after that. No separate limit is published for no-receipt returns, but that does not guarantee a late exchange or merchandise credit. For a faulty product, check the manufacturer’s warranty instead.

Do Hobby Lobby gift cards expire, and can I cash one out?

Hobby Lobby gift cards have no expiration date, subject to state unclaimed-property treatment. Under its gift-card terms, unused value is redeemable for cash only where applicable law requires. Whether a newly purchased gift card can itself be returned is not published; ask before buying if that flexibility matters.

Does a Hobby Lobby account give me longer returns?

Hobby Lobby’s account FAQ describes a free, optional account with order-history access. The return pages do not publish longer windows or fee benefits for account holders, members or email subscribers. Keep the original receipt or online invoice; account registration alone does not establish extra return rights.
