ASOS Returns Policy UK: 28 Days, Return Fees and Refunds

The ASOS returns policy gives UK online and app orders 28 days from delivery or collection availability to create and send unworn returns with tags. Guests pay £3.95; non-Premier accounts at a 70%-plus return rate across three orders can be charged £3.95 per parcel unless more than £40 of that order is kept. Partner-shipped items follow the partner’s policy.

Key facts

  • ASOS allows 28 days from delivery or collection availability; split orders count from the final parcel, excluding Brand Partner shipments.
  • ASOS requires both creating the return and sending it within that period.
  • Guests pay £3.95; account deductions depend on Fair Use groups and keeping more than £40. Genuine faulty returns are free.
  • Refund stages are up to 10 calendar days in transit, a 14-day processing aim after receipt, then up to 10 working days for payment posting.
  • Selected in-stock items have size and colour exchanges; guests, Brand Partner items, swimwear and underwear are excluded.

Shop-counter rules are unpublished here. For legacy Marketplace boutique orders, follow the original seller’s instructions; Brand Partner rules are not verified for them.

How Long Do You Have to Return Something to ASOS?

The 28 days start at delivery or collection availability; split orders count from the final parcel, excluding partner shipments. No longer Premier or ASOS.WORLD window is published.

ASOS specifies neither day units, day-one counting nor cutoff time. Create and send a few days early. Compare other online fashion purchases through our PrettyLittleThing returns guide and Boohoo returns guide; keep each retailer’s deadline separate.

Does creating the return by day 28 count?

No. ASOS’s UK instructions require creating and sending within 28 days. No first-scan, postmark or arrival cutoff is published. Keep postage proof: responsibility stays with you until receipt.

Late returns and extenuating circumstances

Late unwanted returns are normally refused. Contact Customer Care before posting about extenuating circumstances; concessions are discretionary and may be vouchers. Rejected goods may incur redelivery costs. Fault rights remain separate.

Is there an ASOS Christmas returns extension for 2026?

No 2026 extension had been published as of 28 October 2026. The policy, terms, UK instructions and Returns & Refunds index give no seasonal dates or exclusions. Check again in early November. Until ASOS announces one, use the ordinary 28-day window.

Does ASOS Charge for Returns?

Guest returns cost £3.95. Account holders pay nothing until they reach a Fair Use group; ASOS can then deduct £3.95 per returned parcel unless more than £40 of that order is kept. For non-Premier accounts that group starts at 70% or more across three or more orders; for active Premier members, the Fair Use Policy says above 70%. The Fair Use Policy separates account deductions from order handling fees.

Guest orders: £3.95 per return

ASOS deducts £3.95 from guest refunds without defining a universal per-item or per-parcel basis. Return guest orders separately.

Example: Assume £50 of goods from one guest order, an ordinary voluntary return, no faults, partner goods or delivery refund, and the stated fee applied. The goods refund is £50 − £3.95 = £46.05.

Account holders: how your return rate sets fees

ASOS compares returned and ordered value over 12 months, alongside order count. Changes have a 30-day delay and update when ordering. Check My Account; affected accounts receive notifications and checkout and return reminders. Lowering the rate can restore free returns.

Keep more than £40 of that order, not £40 returned or £40 kept.

Example — exactly £40 kept: Assume a registered non-Premier account already assessed at 75% across four orders, one ASOS-sold parcel, £100 ordered, no discounts, faults, partner goods, delivery adjustment or cancellation dispute. Returning £60 leaves £40 kept: the deduction applies, giving £60 − £3.95 = £56.05.

Example — £41 kept: Assume the same account and order as above. Returning £59 leaves £41 kept: the exemption applies, giving £59.

The higher group’s handling fee is an order charge, not a second return deduction.

Separately, ASOS’s Fair Use Policy lets it refuse refunds and suspend or close accounts over suspected fraud or suspicious activity, which is different from reaching a fee group. If your account is deactivated, follow the closure email’s instructions for valid returns; ASOS says those return costs are yours.

Does ASOS Premier include free returns?

Higher-return Premier members can pay £3.95 per parcel unless more than £40 is kept; other benefits continue until expiry.

For buying or renewing Premier, Premier help says 70% or higher across three orders; Fair Use and the terms say above 70%. Treat exactly 70% cautiously as restricted; check My Account and checkout for your account’s answer before renewing.

ASOS.WORLD tiers and returns

ASOS.WORLD returns reduce Net Spend; Icon and A Lister require a rate below 70%. The terms differ: clause 5(b) mentions five orders and 12 months, while 5(e) and 7(a) and Fair Use use 12-month values; check My Account, without assuming a five-order reset.

How to Return an ASOS Order

Returning with an ASOS account

Account holders use My Account:

  1. Open My Orders → Create Return.
  2. Select the items and reasons, then choose a drop-off point.
  3. Pack the registered items and take the parcel plus the emailed/My Returns QR code to the carrier.

Register each parcel with all its items. Eligible orders can share a parcel, but the combined screen shows only orders delivered within 14 days. Start eligible 14–28-day orders from their individual pages.

Returning as a guest

Guests use the ReBOUND platform:

  1. Enter the order number or ID and purchase email in the order lookup.
  2. Register that guest order separately and follow its method instructions.
  3. Print the label if the selected method requires one.

Do not combine guest orders; ASOS’s UK instructions override generic provider FAQs.

Can ASOS collect your return from home?

Yes. Free, tracked Royal Mail collection needs no printer. Book up to five days ahead, Monday–Saturday excluding public holidays, subject to address availability. Ensure access and someone to hand over the parcel; deductions may still apply.

Packing, proof of postage and posting it yourself

Secure replacement outer packaging is allowed; retain product packaging, including shoe boxes and dust bags. Keep proof of postage; at InPost lockers, request virtual proof.

Self-arranged postage is at your expense. Post to ASOS DC2, GXO Logistics, Armthorpe, Doncaster, DN3 3FB, UK, for ASOS-process items only. Never send partner-shipped goods there; check Shipped by in your confirmation email first.

Can You Return to ASOS Without a Receipt?

ASOS uses account orders or order number plus purchase email. No paper-receipt requirement, card lookup, ID-only or no-proof route is published; recover order details or contact Customer Care.

GOV.UK recognises bank statements as statutory proof; that does not establish an ASOS voluntary lookup option.

Can you return an ASOS gift?

No independent gift-recipient or gift-receipt route is published. Ask the buyer to start with their order details and check the shipper. Gift-card payments instead become account credit on refund.

Returning Items Sold or Shipped by ASOS Brand Partners

Orders may be ASOS-sold, partner-sold and partner-shipped, or partner-sold and ASOS-shipped. Check Shipped by in the confirmation email. Items sold by a partner but shipped by ASOS use the usual ASOS return route and can go in the same parcel as other ASOS items.

Send partner-shipped items directly to the partner using parcel instructions or the partner-label directory, never to ASOS or the partner’s shop. Contact ASOS for a missing label. The partner sets its policy; no universal window or condition or ASOS final-parcel clock applies.

Partner help describes partner-sold returns as free, but the guest terms and account deduction rules word fees differently. Do not assume a guest or mixed parcel is fee-free: keep partner-shipped goods separate and check the refund estimate, then the return confirmation or Customer Care for the applicable charge.

Allow up to 10 calendar days for receipt and processing, or 15 for some brands as the delivery note states. ASOS cannot track them but notifies you after processing.

New Balance orders

For New Balance-sold and shipped goods, ASOS says to open tracking, select UPS Return this parcel, create the label and drop off at UPS. Guests use shipping-email tracking.

What Condition Do ASOS Returns Need to Be In?

Unwanted goods must be unworn and unused, in original condition with tags, labels, security devices and product packaging. ASOS allows shop-style trying on and inspects returns. Try footwear on carpet and retain original boxes and supplied shoe bags and dust bags, as its terms specify.

Hygiene items and sealed products

ASOS restricts opened, used or unsealed Face + Body and Sexual Wellness goods, underwear/swimwear with broken seals or labels, tampered-seal pierced jewellery and face coverings with a broken or tampered seal. No separate UK sale window, universal final-sale ban, personalised-goods rule or complete exclusions list is published. Check the product page or Customer Care; fault rights remain separate.

How Long Do ASOS Refunds Take?

ASOS gives three separate stages: up to 10 calendar days for the parcel to reach its warehouse, an aim to refund within 14 days of receipt, then up to 10 working days for your bank or provider. It does not promise a single total. See its refund guide.

Stage What ASOS says Applies to
Return window 28 days to create and send Eligible ordinary returns
Transit Up to 10 calendar days Standard warehouse returns
ASOS processing Aims to refund within 14 days after receipt; day unit undefined Standard returns
Payment posting Up to 10 working days after processing Bank/provider-dependent
Partner receipt/processing Up to 10 calendar days; some brands 15 Partner-shipped goods
Faulty/incorrect receipt/processing Within 10 calendar days in fault help Faulty/incorrect route only

Refunds use the original payment method; card refunds cannot move to another card. An expired/replaced card can still credit its linked open account.

Contact Customer Care with postage proof for overdue or incorrect refunds after checking delivery, discounts and fees. Online estimates are not guaranteed.

Klarna, Clearpay, PayPal Pay in 3 and ASOS vouchers

ASOS notifies Klarna after processing; Klarna adjusts invoices within 24 hours. Log the return with Klarna. Clearpay adjusts or cancels instalments and refunds paid amounts; PayPal Pay in 3 allocation depends on the balance.

Some account returns offer an immediately usable ASOS voucher when registered. Choosing it does not pause or cancel outstanding buy-now-pay-later payments.

Delivery charges and gift card refunds

ASOS refunds standard delivery when the entire eligible order is returned within 14 days of delivery or collection availability. Partial change-of-mind returns do not receive delivery refunds. Qualifying cancellations refund only standard delivery, not the expedited premium.

The terms promise full original shipping for faulty or incorrect items; mixed-order allocation is not detailed, so query it with Customer Care. Gift-card-only refunds credit the account; mixed payments refund the other method first, then gift credit. Replacement gift vouchers retain their original expiry.

Can You Exchange an ASOS Order for Another Size?

Sometimes. ASOS offers selected in-stock size and colour exchanges through My Account on the website or iOS app; the option appears during return creation when you choose a reason such as Too big/Too long or Too small/Too short; only pick a fit reason that is true. Otherwise, return for refund and reorder. Guests, all partner-sold goods, swimwear, underwear and other selected categories are excluded.

The policy says send the original within 14 days of requesting an exchange; the terms require receipt within 14 days or replacement charges and lost original-item eligibility may follow. Post promptly, well inside 14 days; retain proof and confirm the deadline with Customer Care. Do not rely on posting on day 14.

Replacements use the original address and delivery method. No universal exchange fee or free-exchange guarantee is published; check the offer, and remember Fair Use fees can apply if returning the replacement. ASOS’s terms also describe a £5 voucher for eligible first-time size exchanges; check the current conditions there.

Faulty, Damaged or Wrong ASOS Items

Within 28 days, use Faulty or Incorrect Item Received, according to its fault help. For older, non-returnable, partner-shipped or unregistrable goods, use the applicable partner route or contact Customer Care with a photo.

Genuine faulty or incorrect returns are free and excluded from return rates. Wear and tear or incorrect care may be rejected after inspection; false fault reasons and unwanted goods sharing the parcel can still attract deductions. ASOS’s inspection decision and portal procedure do not define the limit of statutory rights.

Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 normally gives 30 days to reject faulty goods, starting after delivery and transfer of ownership and any required setup. The trader bears reasonable return costs and must refund within 14 days of agreeing entitlement.

The same rights cover goods that do not match their description or are not of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose, for example a listed material or measurement that differs materially from what arrives. Save the product page and photos; a correctly described item that simply doesn’t suit you is a change-of-mind return.

After 30 days, remedies include repair or replacement at the trader’s cost, within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, then a price reduction or final rejection in specified failure cases. GOV.UK explains the first-six-month presumption of an existing fault for repair or replacement; afterwards the shopper may need proof. Wear is distinct from a defect, sale goods retain rights, and cancellation has separate rules.

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give eligible distance purchases 14 days after physical receipt to notify cancellation, then 14 days to send goods back, unless the trader offered to collect them. Multi-goods deliveries count from the last goods; unsealed hygiene goods can be exempt.

If the trader has not offered to collect the goods, the refund is due within 14 days of it receiving them or, if earlier, of you supplying evidence that you sent them. If it offered collection, the 14 days run from your cancellation notice. The refund goes to the same payment method unless agreed otherwise. Disclosed direct return costs can fall on the shopper; no other return costs or reimbursement fee is due. ASOS does not explain whether its £3.95 charges are waived on cancellation: ask for the charge’s basis rather than assuming an exemption.

ASOS’s terms direct the usual whole-order return process, while cancellation help requests written contact or the withdrawal form. Send a clear written cancellation statement and keep a copy; regulation 32 accepts a clear statement. Then return the goods within 14 days or, if the trader offered to collect them, make them available for that collection instead. If you are unsure ASOS has your notice, ask Customer Care to confirm it; do not rely on the return portal alone.

ASOS Returns Policy Mistakes That Cost You Money

  • Registering on day 28, posting later: create and send within the window.
  • Keeping exactly £40: only more than £40 meets the account deduction exemption.
  • Assuming Premier guarantees free returns: check the account’s Fair Use status.
  • Posting partner-shipped goods to Doncaster: use the partner instructions instead.
  • Choosing a voucher and stopping Klarna payments: outstanding instalments remain payable.
  • Marking unwanted goods Faulty: use accurate reasons; genuine faults do not exempt unrelated items.

FAQ

Can I put two ASOS orders in the same parcel?

ASOS account holders can combine eligible items in one registered parcel. The combined screen shows orders delivered within 14 days; start older eligible 14–28-day orders from their own order pages. Guest orders must be registered and returned separately. Partner-shipped items use the partner’s route.

Do faulty returns count towards my ASOS return rate?

Genuine faulty or incorrect ASOS returns do not count towards your personal return rate and are free. ASOS can inspect the goods and reject wear or incorrect care as a fault. A false fault reason, or unwanted goods in that parcel, can still trigger deductions.

Does a split ASOS delivery give me two return deadlines?

ASOS uses the final parcel’s delivery or collection availability to start the return window for a split order. That rule expressly excludes Brand Partner-shipped items, which follow partner policies. Check who shipped each item rather than applying the last ASOS parcel’s date to everything purchased together.

Will ASOS refund me if my card has expired?

ASOS says an expired or replaced card can still receive a refund through its linked bank account if that account remains open. ASOS cannot redirect the refund to another card. If the refund does not appear after the stated payment-posting period, contact Customer Care with the return details.

Can ASOS refuse a return that arrives after 28 days?

Under the ASOS returns policy, late unwanted returns are normally refused, but no ordinary warehouse-arrival cutoff is published: its UK instructions say create and send within 28 days. Keep postage proof if dispatch was timely. For extenuating circumstances, contact Customer Care; a concession may be a voucher, and rejected goods may incur redelivery costs.
