Anthropologie Return Policy: 30-Day Refunds, 1-Year Credit & Fees
The Anthropologie return policy for US items sold directly by Anthropologie refunds unworn, unwashed items with tags attached to the original payment method within 30 days and merchandise credit afterward, up to one year. Most mailed returns cost $5.95, deducted from the refund; eligible store returns are free. Final-sale items, furniture and wedding gowns follow their own rules.
- Eligible returns within 30 days receive the original selling price to the original payment method; afterward, merchandise credit applies up to one year. No returns or exchanges after one year.
- Mailed returns must reach Anthropologie within the window; sending them is insufficient.
- Most mailed returns deduct $5.95; eligible store returns are free, exchange labels have no fee, and original shipping is non-refundable.
- The sale exclusion combines a .95 price, an additional sale-on-sale discount and a Final Sale designation. Packaged food, menstrual cups, sexual-wellness devices, live plants, made-to-order bridal and Home Outlet goods are also excluded.
- Curated purchases go to the partner seller; DoorDash purchases have an in-store exchange-only route.
This covers US anthropologie.com, iOS-app, phone and store purchases. Curated sellers and DoorDash have separate rules below; UK and Canadian purchases are outside this guide. More US store return guides are on the US hub, and Anthropologie’s official returns page is the binding text.

How Long Do You Have to Return to Anthropologie?
Anthropologie allows eligible refunds within 30 days; credit or exchanges extend up to one year.
Anthropologie’s Returns & Exchanges page counts shipped orders from delivery and store purchases from purchase; its FAQ agrees. Anthropologie’s Customer Service page words it differently: 30 days from purchase. For an original-payment refund, have the parcel received, or the store return completed, within 30 days of the order date where you can. If you are past that but still within 30 days of delivery, the main policy page supports a refund. Start the return in Order History and keep delivery confirmation; the return flow for your order or customer service through Contact Us provides the order-specific answer.
If you are weighing another fashion retailer’s deadline, see the Urban Outfitters return window and refund rules.
Does Mailing Your Return by Day 30 Count?
No. Anthropologie’s FAQ requires mailed goods to be received within the window for the refund. Creating a label or handing over a parcel does not meet that requirement by itself.
Calendar/business-day counting, day-zero inclusion, cutoff time, time zone and one-year boundary calculations are not published. Ship with days to spare and keep tracking and the carrier receipt. A store return removes transit time from the calculation.
What Happens If You Return After 30 Days?
Anthropologie gives merchandise credit at the original selling price for eligible returns after 30 days, up to one year, subject to deductions. After one year, returns and exchanges are not accepted.
Example: Assume an eligible, unworn, account-verifiable garment bought directly from Anthropologie is clearly past 30 days but well within one year, with no category or holiday exception. The outcome is merchandise credit.
Is There a 2026 Holiday Return Extension?
As of October 28, 2026, Anthropologie has not published a year-dated holiday extension. Its Holiday Extended Return Policy notice says orders placed October 1–December 31 can be returned or exchanged through January 31, excluding Unlimited Furniture Delivery items and wedding gowns, but names no year.
The notice does not clarify extended original-payment refunds, store-purchase coverage, partner sellers or the required deadline action. Older guides attach years and refund promises that the notice does not state. Plan around the standard refund threshold and check for a dated notice; holiday eligibility still depends on item condition.
What Condition Must Anthropologie Returns Be In?
Anthropologie requires merchandise to be unworn, unwashed and unaltered, with tags attached and original packaging, under its general condition rules. No tag-removal exception is published.
Separate US opened-beauty, hygiene-seal, component and ordinary custom-goods rules are not published. Return complete items with tags and packaging; ask support about uncertain eligibility. Defective goods may still be accepted at Anthropologie’s discretion; gowns have additional condition checks below. Anthropologie does not publish a postage waiver for defective returns.
Does Anthropologie Charge for Returns?
$5.95 is deducted from most mailed refunds using Anthropologie’s label; eligible store returns cost $0. Labels cover orders shipping to the continental US. For Alaska, Hawaii or US territories, contact support; alternative procedures/costs are not published.
Anthropologie does not publish whether $5.95 applies per item, order, label, parcel or transaction. Complimentary UPS pickup does not remove that deduction. Using your own carrier makes shipping costs and loss risk yours; Anthropologie recommends trackable, insured shipping.
| Method/category | Charge | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary mailed label | $5.95 refund deduction | Returns & Exchanges |
| Eligible store return | Free | Same policy |
| Same-item online exchange | Free label and new-order shipping | Same policy |
| Own carrier | Your shipping cost; amount not published | Same policy |
| Unlimited Furniture Delivery pickup | Complimentary; original delivery not refunded | Same policy |
| Oversized UPS furniture | $5.95 deduction | Same policy |
| Select upholstery | 25% restocking plus applicable taxes | Same policy; check product |
| Wedding gown | $25 restocking plus applicable taxes | Same policy; check product |
Original shipping is non-refundable; fee stacking and exact percentage/tax bases are not fully published.
Example: Assume one eligible $80 item qualifies for an original-payment refund, uses the ordinary label and incurs exactly one $5.95 deduction. The merchandise amount is $80 − $5.95 = $74.05. Taxes, original delivery, other applicable charges and the unconfirmed charging unit are excluded.
Choose store or mail before generating a label, because the label route triggers the deduction. For another fashion retailer’s mailed-return terms, see Reformation’s return policy.
How to Return an Anthropologie Online Order
These six steps follow Anthropologie’s published return instructions; timely arrival determines refund eligibility. The account flow itself was not tested.
- Find the order. Open Order History, which requires login, or use the guest/gift Order Status route on Returns & Exchanges. Confirm the order.
- Select Start a Return or Exchange. Follow prompts; select exchange for a same-item size/color swap and its shipping benefits.
- Obtain the label. Print it or select a mobile return code and show it at The UPS Store for label printing. The code replaces home printing; packaging is still needed.
- Pack the matching items. Use the matching label/slip; cover or remove the old shipping label. Process and mail multiple returns separately.
- Send the parcel. Drop it off or arrange the complimentary UPS pickup linked from the policy. Pickup does not waive the ordinary $5.95 deduction.
- Keep proof and monitor. Save tracking and the carrier receipt. Watch for Anthropologie’s processing email; handing over the parcel is not confirmation of refund processing.
Can You Return an Online Order to an Anthropologie Store?
Yes, most eligible online orders can go to an Anthropologie store for free. Use the store locator, but exclude Home Outlet and pop-up locations, which do not accept ordinary returns.
Curated purchases, Unlimited Furniture Delivery items and online-purchased gowns/bridal sets cannot use this route. Store purchases have their own store-only requirement.
Returning Anthropologie Store Purchases
Anthropologie store purchases require store returns, not warehouse mailing. Refunds to the original payment method run 30 days from purchase; after that, merchandise credit or an exchange is available up to one year.
Most store refunds reach the original payment method in approximately 1–3 business days; statement display can take up to two billing cycles, according to the FAQ. Bring purchase proof.
Can You Return to Anthropologie Without a Receipt?
Yes, if Anthropologie can find the purchase through a supported route. An original receipt, original packing receipt or AnthroPerks-linked transaction provides purchase proof; associates can use the AnthroPerks ID, registered phone number or email.
No untraceable-purchase outcome, card-only lookup, photo-ID rule or lowest-price credit is published. Search email for the confirmation, check your loyalty account, then ask customer service.
Returning an Anthropologie Gift or Registry Purchase
Anthropologie’s price-free packing slip works as a gift receipt; adding and saving a gift message at checkout ensures one is included. Gift lookup uses the order number and original billing ZIP code. Check the outer shipping label for the number; support can help using the giver’s name and/or email.
For mailed gifts, select e-merchandise credit and enter the recipient’s email. The FAQ also describes selecting GIFT for an e-gift card. Store gift returns receive merchandise credit; ask the associate about the gift-card option.
A special registry-return window and giver-notification secrecy are not published. The registry’s 90-day provision concerns a completion discount, not returns.
Anthropologie Exchanges: Same Item vs Different Item
Anthropologie’s online same-item exchange offers a free return label and free shipping on the new order for another size or color. No stock reservation is promised.
| Exchange type | Route | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Same item, different size/color | Online exchange | Free label and new-order shipping |
| Different item/style | Return through Order History, then reorder | Ordinary applicable return/order charges |
| Eligible in-store exchange | Store; up to one year | Store return method free |
| Furniture | Furniture specialists | Possible extra flat-rate shipping; amount not published |
What Can’t You Return to Anthropologie?
Anthropologie excludes designated Final Sale purchases and named categories from its voluntary return/exchange policy. The US exclusions and loyalty terms set these limits:
| Item | Anthropologie’s rule | What you can do instead |
|---|---|---|
| Final Sale | Combined test below; no return/exchange | Check designation before buying |
| Packaged food | No return/exchange | Ask support about an order problem |
| Menstrual cups | No return/exchange | Ask support about an order problem |
| Sexual-wellness personal devices | No return/exchange | Ask support about an order problem |
| Live plants | No return/exchange | Ask support about delivery damage |
| Made-to-order gowns/bridal sets | No return/exchange; made-to-order gowns also cannot be canceled | Check product terms before ordering |
| Home Outlet goods | As-is, final sale | Check condition before buying |
| Nuuly retired rentals via Curated | Final sale | Contact partner for support |
| Products/services received as AnthroPerks benefits | No return/exchange for other products/services or monetary refund | Check benefit terms |
| DoorDash orders | Non-refundable | Eligible same-product exchange below |
The benefit restriction applies to items received as loyalty benefits, not every purchase using a discount.
How the .95 Final-Sale Rule Works
Anthropologie’s sale exclusion combines three conditions: a price ending in .95, an additional sale-on-sale discount and a Final Sale designation. A .95 price alone does not establish final sale. Check the product page and order confirmation.
Returning Anthropologie Furniture
Anthropologie requires saleable Unlimited Furniture Delivery items back within 30 days of delivery, through the delivery service, never a store. Contact furniture specialists through Contact Us for complimentary pickup. The original delivery charge is non-refundable; refund follows warehouse processing.
The policy says return within 30 days; the FAQ says schedule pickup within 30 days. Neither clarifies whether last-day booking alone preserves eligibility. Contact specialists well before that point so pickup itself happens inside the window. Unlimited Furniture Delivery is excluded from the holiday notice.
For oversized UPS-delivered items, obtain a specialist-issued label; $5.95 is deducted. Select upholstery carries 25% restocking plus applicable taxes; check the product page.
Example: Assume a product page applies the 25% charge to a $2,000 select-upholstery item. The restocking component is $2,000 × 0.25 = $500, plus applicable tax on the fee. This is not a final-refund calculation; the actual fee base and other deductions need confirmation.
For White Glove delivery, the delivery team should contact specialists before leaving. Compare IKEA’s large-item return rules when planning another furniture purchase.
Returning Anthropologie Wedding Gowns and Bridal Sets
Anthropologie’s Returns & Exchanges policy charges $25 restocking plus applicable taxes on wedding-gown returns; do not assume the fee covers every bridal separate. Gowns and bridal sets must be unworn, unwashed, unaltered and free of stains, pet hair, floor debris and pin marks, with original tags and packaging.
Online gowns/bridal sets cannot return to stores. Made-to-order gowns cannot be canceled, returned or exchanged under the voluntary policy; made-to-order bridal sets are also non-returnable/non-exchangeable.
The Remy gown product page, one product example, shows the standard refund/credit split rather than a universal hard cutoff for all gown returns. Its generic store-return line does not override the category rule that online gowns cannot go to stores. Gowns are excluded from the holiday notice.
Curated by Anthropologie, Nuuly and DoorDash Orders
Curated partners sell and fulfill their own goods under their own policies.
Find the seller’s policy under Shipping & Returns, in the confirmation email or Order History. Send returns to that partner, never an Anthropologie store or warehouse. Contact the seller if a prepaid label is missing; prepaid does not establish that every seller’s label is free. Nuuly retired rentals are final sale. Curated items cannot be exchanged for merchandise credit, and the late-credit route for Anthropologie’s own goods does not apply; partner refunds go to the original payment method under each seller’s policy.
DoorDash purchases are non-refundable under Anthropologie’s rules. Stores offer equal-value exchanges of the same product for another size/color within 30 days of purchase. Contact DoorDash for order help.
When Will You Get Your Anthropologie Refund?
Anthropologie estimates approximately 1–2 weeks to process most mailed returns, then approximately 1–3 business days for an eligible original-payment refund to post. The FAQ allows delays; do not add these estimates into a guaranteed total.
| Clock | Published timing | What the timing means |
|---|---|---|
| 1: Return eligibility | 30-day original-payment threshold | Mailed goods must arrive within the window |
| 2: Anthropologie processing, mail | About 1–2 weeks | Start event: Not published; confirmation by email |
| 2: Anthropologie processing, store | Not published separately | Separate processing duration not stated |
| 3: Refund posting | About 1–3 business days after processing; most in-store refunds about 1–3 business days | Monthly statement display can take up to two billing cycles |
| Separate Curated-partner estimate | About 1–3 business days after partner receipt | Seller policies/times vary; not Anthropologie’s own processing clock |
Refunds for Gift Cards, Afterpay and Price-Adjusted Items
Anthropologie refunds gift-card-paid purchases as merchandise credit. Afterpay refunds follow standard returns; after processing, installments adjust from the last payment backward. Monthly-plan interest already paid is not refunded, and interest may accrue before processing.
Price-adjusted items are refunded at the adjusted amount. If the price drops, a one-time price adjustment on full-price purchases (and some promotional purchases; check the FAQ) may be an alternative to returning; request it within 14 days of purchase with the original receipt. Contact customer service for online or phone orders; visit a store for store purchases. Dedicated split-tender and other-provider posting times are not published; ask about your payment method if the credit is missing.
What If Your Anthropologie Order Arrives Damaged, Missing or Wrong?
Anthropologie directs online shoppers to Submit Claim within 30 days of the shipping date for missing, damaged or incorrect items/packages. Locate the order through Order History or the policy’s guest route; this reporting clock differs from the ordinary return window.
The FAQ gives 72 business hours for claim review/processing, with an emailed outcome. A free replacement is offered through the claim route; review is not a guaranteed refund. Universal faulty-return postage waivers, original-shipping refunds and fixed late-defect remedies are not published.
Your Rights Beyond Anthropologie’s Policy
The FTC Cooling-Off Rule excludes purchases entirely online, by mail or phone, and at a seller’s permanent store. Ordinary purchases therefore have no automatic three-day return right under that rule.
FTC shipping guidance requires shipping within the promised time, or generally within 30 days when none is given. For delay, buyers can consent or cancel for a full refund; this adds no merchandise-return period.
Certain credit-card billing errors, including non-delivery as agreed, have a written-dispute deadline of 60 days after the first statement containing the error was sent. Quality-only disputes are excluded; debit protections differ.
Read how StoreReturners checks official sources and dates.
Anthropologie Return Policy Mistakes to Avoid
- Allow arrival time: mailing near the deadline does not secure an original-payment refund.
- Check store eligibility before paying the ordinary $5.95 mail deduction.
- Use the same-item exchange route for its free label and new-order shipping.
- Check all three sale-exclusion conditions rather than price alone.
- Keep Curated and online-gown returns out of the store-return route.
- Arrange furniture pickup early enough for collection inside the window.
FAQ
Can I combine two Anthropologie orders in one return box?
No. Anthropologie instructs shoppers to process and mail multiple returns separately, using the matching label and slip for each parcel. Keep each carrier receipt and tracking record. The policy does not publish the $5.95 charging unit, so do not infer a combined-return fee saving.
Does Anthropologie refund original shipping charges?
Anthropologie’s ordinary return instructions make original shipping non-refundable. That includes the initial Unlimited Furniture Delivery charge, even when return pickup is complimentary. A universal original-shipping refund for defective goods is not published; ask customer service about the specific problem rather than assuming a waiver.
Do AnthroPerks members get free returns or a longer window?
Anthropologie does not publish a general mailed-return fee waiver or longer window for AnthroPerks membership. The published benefit is receipt lookup for linked purchases using membership details. Products or services received as loyalty benefits have a separate return restriction; that does not ban ordinary discounted purchases.
Can I return Anthropologie items from Alaska or Hawaii with a prepaid label?
Anthropologie’s published label availability covers orders shipping to the continental US. An alternative procedure or fixed cost for Alaska, Hawaii and US territories is not published. Contact customer service before shipping to confirm the appropriate route, label availability and any applicable charges.
Will I get cash back for an item I paid for with an Anthropologie gift card?
No. Anthropologie refunds purchases originally paid with a gift card as merchandise credit. Gift returns also have credit options, including e-merchandise credit for mailed returns and an e-gift-card option described in the FAQ. Confirm the selected destination before completing the return; cash is not the stated outcome.
