Five Below Return Policy: 90-Day Refunds, Exchanges and No Receipt
The Five Below return policy for US stores and fivebelow.com allows original-payment refunds within 90 days of purchase for unopened or defective items with a receipt or online confirmation; qualifying exchanges are allowed anytime. Gift cards and balloons are excluded, and special bulk orders are final unless damaged, defective or incorrect on arrival. DoorDash orders follow DoorDash’s rules.
Five Below key facts
- As a general rule, unopened or defective merchandise can be refunded within 90 days from purchase; gift cards, balloons and special bulk orders are exceptions.
- Exchanges of qualifying items are available anytime, with proof, for the same item or equal value.
- Proof means the receipt or online confirmation; receipt recovery is available, but failed-recovery outcomes are unpublished.
- Any store accepts qualifying direct purchases; mail is ship-to-home only, with no label or postage reimbursement.
- Refunds go to the original payment method; the original card must be present for card refunds, and bank posting can take 2–10 business days.

How Long Do You Have to Return Something to Five Below?
90 days from purchase is Five Below’s refund window for qualifying merchandise. The main policy uses purchase, with no delivery-based restart stated; online shoppers should not assume the clock starts when a parcel arrives.
A qualifying exchange remains available after the refund window. Shoppers comparing discount-store return rules can see how Dollar Tree handles returns.
Can You Exchange an Item After 90 Days?
Yes. Five Below allows unopened or defective items to be exchanged anytime for the same item or another of equal value, with the receipt or online confirmation. Gift-card, bulk-order and balloon exceptions still apply.
Mail exchanges, price adjustments and stock guarantees are unpublished; ask Customer Relations first.
Example: Assume an ordinary sealed item, original receipt, purchase 120 days ago and no special offer terms. The refund window has passed, but the equal-value exchange rule remains available.
How the 90 Days Are Counted
Five Below does not specify calendar versus business days, whether purchase day counts, or the final-day cutoff. For online and pickup purchases, the policy does not define purchase as ordering, payment capture or collection.
The mail instructions also do not say whether initiation, postmark, carrier scan or arrival must occur by day 90. Use the earliest date on your receipt or confirmation, act several days early, and ask Customer Relations about the mail cutoff before shipping.
Is There a 2026 Holiday Return Extension?
No 2026 holiday extension was found in Five Below’s public help center and return policy as of October 28, 2026. Do not assume last year’s terms apply or confuse anytime exchanges with extended refunds. This guide will be updated if a notice appears.
Can You Return Opened Items to Five Below?
Only defective opened items meet Five Below’s general condition: unopened or defective. A working item opened because you wanted to try it does not meet that condition merely because you changed your mind.
The return policy does not give universal rules for tags, missing accessories, packaging damage or use thresholds. Ask Customer Relations about your item’s condition rather than assuming damaged packaging is acceptable. No special squishy return rule is published, and an unwanted color is not an established defect.
Opened Items That Turn Out to Be Defective
Five Below expressly includes defective merchandise: qualifying items can receive a refund within 90 days or an exchange later, with proof. Opening an item to discover a defect does not itself remove that route; category exceptions still matter.
For missing, wrong or damaged online items, Five Below’s problem-order help directs shoppers to Customer Relations. Verify your email address afterward so the team’s reply can reach you. The page publishes no mandatory photos, separate fault-reporting deadline, guaranteed replacement, prepaid fault label or resolution time. Describe the problem and ask what to do before sending anything.
Activewear and Not-as-Described Items
Five Below’s activewear page says unworn, unwashed items can be returned within 90 days, with a receipt, to the original payment method. Its Terms of Use say not-as-described products must come back unused, complete, undamaged and in original packaging.
These conditions neither authorize all opened-item returns nor cancel defective-item eligibility. Additional closeout or product-specific offer terms can modify the policy; check any terms attached to your item.
Returning to Five Below Without a Receipt
Five Below requires the original receipt or online order confirmation, but offers two ways to request a copy. The receipt help page does not promise store credit without proof, ID-only returns, gift-receipt acceptance or acceptance after failed recovery. A bank statement alone is not a published alternative.
Shoppers comparing how off-price chains handle missing receipts can see Ross’s return policy.
Getting a Copy of an Online Receipt
Five Below directs online shoppers to its order-status invoice lookup. According to its receipt help page, enter order information to retrieve the finalized invoice without signing in. This is an invoice-retrieval route; mail returns begin through Customer Relations.
Asking Five Below to Find a Lost Store Receipt
Five Below’s High Five team, also called Customer Relations, can try to locate a store receipt through the request form. Supply:
- Purchase date.
- Approximate purchase time, if known.
- Exact transaction total.
- Store location.
- Last four card digits, or “CASH.”
- Some items purchased.
After submitting, check your email and verify your address; Five Below’s contact help says this is needed to receive a reply.
Example: Assume a cash purchase, lost receipt, and known date, total, store and some items. Submit those clues with “CASH” instead of card digits; recovery and any refund are not guaranteed. If the search fails, ask the team what to do before traveling or mailing anything.
How to Return to Five Below
Five Below’s official return instructions offer store returns and a restricted mail route. Choose by where you placed the order and how it was fulfilled.
At a Five Below Store
Store returns cover qualifying direct store and online purchases at any location. Bring the item, original receipt or online confirmation, and original debit or credit card for a card refund.
- Use the Five Below store locator to choose a location.
- Take the item and purchase evidence for a refund within 90 days or a qualifying exchange.
- Present the original payment card for a card refund.
Handling lost or replaced cards is unpublished, so ask Customer Relations first.
By Mail (Ship-to-Home Orders Only)
Five Below offers mail returns for ship-to-home orders when no store is nearby. Store purchases, pickup orders and same-day deliveries are outside that published mail route. Have your order number, item details and return reason ready.
- Contact Customer Relations with the order number, items and return reason, then verify your email address so the team’s reply reaches you.
- Pack the item and address it to eCommerce Returns, 12050 E. McGregor Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46259.
- Send the parcel with a tracked carrier; Five Below recommends USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL.
- Reply to the team with the tracking number.
You pay return postage. Five Below provides no return label and does not reimburse shipping costs. Keep the tracking number to confirm arrival; refund processing starts once the return arrives.
No RMA or mandatory printed return form is published. The deadline test and processing duration are unpublished: contact support and ship well before day 90 rather than relying on a final-day postmark.
Same-Day Delivery Orders
Same-day orders placed through Five Below follow the main return policy, even when delivery providers carry the goods. Bring the item, online confirmation and original card for a card refund to a store. The ship-to-home mail route does not cover these orders.
How Do DoorDash Returns Work for Five Below Orders?
Purchases placed on DoorDash follow DoorDash’s Five Below entry: 90 days from purchase, with goods unopened, in original packaging and new. Gift cards are excluded. For an original-payment refund, DoorDash’s steps are:
- Open the order history and start a return in the DoorDash app.
- Take the items to a Five Below store.
- Show the app’s return barcode.
- Upload the store’s return receipt in the app.
Keep that receipt until uploaded. DoorDash lists original payment, DoorDash credit or store credit for the merchandise subtotal and applicable taxes, subject to review. Original-payment refunds typically appear within about four business days, with bank variation. Delivery fees and tips are not addressed; ask DoorDash rather than assuming reimbursement.
Does Five Below Charge for Returns?
Five Below’s published policy lists no return or restocking fee, but mail shoppers pay their own return postage. An unlisted fee is not a promise that every return costs nothing.
| Cost | Five Below’s published position |
|---|---|
| Return or restocking fee | Not published |
| Mail-return postage | Shopper pays; no label or reimbursement |
| Fixed return-postage price | Not published |
| Original delivery refund | General treatment not published |
| Shipping on multiple orders of purchase-limited items | Not refunded |
The last restriction comes from Five Below’s shipping help; it does not establish a universal original-delivery exclusion. Ask support about charges for your order before mailing.
When Will You Get Your Five Below Refund?
Five Below refunds qualifying direct returns to the original payment method. Its 2–10 business days estimate concerns bank posting of card credits, depending on the financial institution; it is not a retailer-processing promise.
| Clock | Stage | Published timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Return window | 90 days from purchase for qualifying refunds |
| 2 | Retailer processing: store | Not published |
| 2 | Retailer processing: mail | Starts after receipt; duration: Not published |
| 3 | Bank posting: direct card refund | 2–10 business days, depending on the bank |
| Separate channel | DoorDash orders only: original-payment refund | Typically about 4 business days; review and bank stages not separately quantified |
The Five Below policy gives no total mail-to-refund turnaround. Detailed cash, split-tender, gift-card-funded and tax-allocation handling is unpublished; ask Customer Relations about your payment arrangement. Do not add DoorDash’s estimate to Five Below’s bank interval.
Do You Need Your Card for a Refund?
Yes. Five Below requires the original debit or credit card to be present for a card refund. The policy does not explain mail-return verification, lost or replaced cards, or digital wallets. Ask Customer Relations how to proceed; never mail a payment card.
Canceled Pickup Orders Are Not Returns
A canceled, uncollected pickup order releases a payment authorization rather than refunding a completed purchase. Five Below’s pickup help says the hold can take up to seven days to disappear, with most banks dropping it in three; it does not specify calendar or business days. These figures do not apply to returned merchandise.
What Can’t You Return to Five Below?
Five Below excludes gift cards and identifies separate final-sale rules for bulk orders and balloons:
- Gift cards: not returnable.
- eGift-card transactions: Five Below’s Terms say a third-party vendor sells electronic gift cards under that vendor’s transaction terms.
- Special bulk orders: final sale, with a damaged, defective or incorrect arrival exception.
- Balloons: final sale under the balloon-specific rules below.
No blanket ban on electronics, cosmetics, food, clearance or seasonal merchandise is published. General unopened-or-defective eligibility still applies, and closeout or product-specific offer terms can add limits. Check the offer instead of assuming an entire category is excluded.
Which Bulk Orders Are Final Sale?
Five Below’s bulk policy defines bulk as 25 or more units of one SKU, unavailable in stock, specially ordered and delivered to the store. These orders are final unless they arrive damaged, defective or incorrect; contact Customer Relations for that exception.
Example: Assume a basket of 25 different in-stock products. Quantity alone does not make that a bulk order under this definition; the general policy applies, subject to individual exclusions.
Balloons Are Final Sale
Five Below’s balloon policy states all balloon sales are final, with no refunds, returns, exchanges or cancellations for inflated balloons, custom arrangements or special-order balloon products. Faulty-balloon handling is not explained. Contact Customer Relations about a genuine defect rather than assuming either automatic acceptance or denial; legal rights remain separate.
Faulty Items and Your Rights Beyond the Policy
Five Below’s voluntary policy includes defective merchandise, but warranty rights are separate. The FTC’s Cooling-Off Rule does not provide a three-day cancellation right for ordinary store or entirely online purchases.
The FTC’s warranty guidance explains that coverage and remedies depend on warranty terms and state law, including permitted implied-warranty disclaimers. No nationwide faulty-goods cash-refund deadline follows from Five Below’s 90-day policy.
This guide explains published rules; Five Below staff and Customer Relations decide individual returns, and several operational details remain unpublished. How StoreReturners checks policies explains the source-checking approach.
Five Below Return Policy Mistakes to Avoid
- Opening a working item before deciding to keep it: the general condition is unopened or defective.
- Mailing a store or pickup purchase: mail eligibility is ship-to-home only.
- Shipping before contacting Customer Relations and verifying your email, or without tracking: follow the support-and-tracking instructions.
- Leaving the original card at home: card refunds require its presence.
- Mailing near day 90: the deadline test is unpublished, so contact support and ship early.
- Applying DoorDash conditions or timing to direct orders: identify where the order was placed first.

FAQ
Can I return my Five Below purchase to a different store?
Yes. Any Five Below location accepts qualifying direct purchases, including ship-to-home, pickup and same-day orders placed with Five Below. DoorDash purchases also go back to a store, but only after you start the return in the DoorDash app. Bring proof and the original card for a card refund.
Can I mail back something I bought in a Five Below store?
No. Five Below’s mail route covers ship-to-home orders only, so store, pickup and same-day purchases have no published mail option. If no store is near you, check the store locator, then ask Customer Relations before sending anything. Five Below provides no return label and doesn’t reimburse postage.
What happens if I paid for my items with a Five Below gift card?
Five Below says refunds go to the original payment method, but does not publish detailed handling for merchandise funded by a gift card. Ask Customer Relations what happens for your transaction. Gift cards themselves are nonreturnable; that exclusion does not explain how a merchandise refund will be issued.
Do Five Below rewards or memberships extend the return window?
No return-related membership extension, fee waiver or special receipt privilege is published in the reviewed policy and help material. Use the standard 90-day refund window unless Five Below provides applicable terms for your purchase. This does not establish that no rewards or promotional program exists.
Can I return a squishy or Needoh if I didn’t get the color I wanted?
Five Below publishes no special return entitlement for an unwanted squishy color. Its squishy help does not change the general unopened-or-defective requirement, and color disappointment is not an established defect. Under the Five Below return policy, keep a working item sealed while deciding whether to return it.
