Currys Return Policy UK: 30 Days, Opened Items and Refunds
The Currys return policy in the UK allows 30 days for unwanted goods: online items may be opened to inspect but must remain unused; store purchases must stay sealed. Proof can be a receipt, bank statement or online invoice. Refunds normally use the original payment method, with an exception for online PayPal orders returned in store.
Key facts
- Currys allows 30 days for eligible unwanted goods; online orders count from delivery.
- Online goods may be opened for inspection; store purchases must remain unopened and sealed.
- Currys accepts a sales receipt, bank statement or online sales invoice as proof.
- Currys refunds to the original payment method with no refund-issuing fee; online PayPal orders returned to a store get an exchange or gift card instead. Refund timing depends on the route (see the refund table), and bank posting time is not published.
- Currys does not publish a price for unwanted DPD or collection returns; collecting a faulty item from a UK address is at Currys’ cost.
This guide covers consumer purchases made directly from Currys UK, not Currys Ireland, Currys Business or other sellers; browse more UK store return guides for other retailers.
Which Currys return route fits your order
| Your purchase | Condition for an unwanted return | Where it goes back | Refund goes to | Watch out for |

| In store | Sealed, original packaging, proof | Any store; visit a store to arrange collection if too large | Original payment | Opening removes the change-of-mind option |
| Online, small, card or gift card | Unused, complete, resaleable | Store or DPD | Original payment | Keep dispatch proof |
| Online, PayPal | Unused, complete, resaleable | Post/collection for a PayPal refund | PayPal via post/collection | Store offers exchange or gift card |
| Online, flexpay | Unused, complete, resaleable | DPD/collection as suitable | Original payment | Store exclusion, except next row |
| Same Day Big Box Collection, including flexpay | Unused, complete, resaleable | Must return to a store | Original payment; PayPal orders: ask Webchat first | Must go to a store; PayPal overlap not explained |
| Online, large | Unused, complete, resaleable | Home collection | Original payment, subject to PayPal route | Collection price unpublished |
| Custom PC build | Specialist assessment | PCSpecialist RMA process | Confirm with PCSpecialist | No general window published |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | Usual conditions; see phone prep below | Current FAQ: any store with proof | Confirm payment restrictions | Ask about overlapping route rules |
Currys’ online returns selector counts TVs up to and including 43 inches as small and larger TVs as large; microwaves, exercise bikes and major appliances are large. Check the selector for borderline items.
Start with the official policy and returns FAQs. Actions: Webchat, Store Finder, DPD QR request, printable DPD label, collection request or order cancellation.
How Long Do You Have to Return Something to Currys?
30 days is Currys’ unwanted-goods allowance online and in store. For store purchases, the FAQ counts from purchase or delivery, whichever is later.
The online terms require notification no later than 30 days after the delivery day. Split deliveries count from the day after the last delivery; regular deliveries use the first delivery. Currys does not define calendar versus working days or a universal first-day convention: return a few days early.
The allowance exceeds the ordinary 14-day online cancellation minimum; that legal period is not added to Currys’ 30 days. Mobile airtime has separate rules below.
Do Click-and-Collect Orders Follow the Online or Store Rules?
Currys treats online orders collected in store as online purchases. Collection alone does not turn an online purchase into a store purchase, so opening for inspection is allowed, subject to the other conditions.
What Counts as Returning in Time for a Posted Return?
Currys’ FAQ requires a request and approval within 30 days, then allows a few extra transit days; Currys’ terms word it differently, requiring return within 30 days of delivery or collection. Request well beforehand, get the parcel to DPD within the 30 days and keep dispatch evidence. Currys does not say how many transit days it allows, how fast it approves requests or when the parcel must arrive. Near the deadline, confirm through Webchat and follow your return approval. Store handover must happen within 30 days.
Is There a Currys Christmas Return Extension for 2026?
Currys had not published a Christmas 2026 returns extension as of 28 October 2026. No qualifying purchase dates, seasonal deadline or exclusions are confirmed; use the ordinary 30-day rules unless Currys announces otherwise.
Keep purchase evidence for gifts and ask about recipient returns before buying. If you are still choosing where to buy a gift, compare the Argos return policy. Remember that opening a store-bought gift ends the change-of-mind option.
Can You Return an Opened Item to Currys?
Yes for eligible online goods opened only to inspect; no for opened store purchases returned because you changed your mind. Currys’ condition rules distinguish inspection from use.
Opened Online Orders: Inspect, Don’t Use
Currys’ full-refund conditions require online goods to be:
- Unused, resaleable and as new.
- In original packaging, with all accessories and free gifts.
- Free of personal data and not registered with the manufacturer.
The policy requires original packaging, while the terms say where possible and allow value deductions. Keep the box; missing packaging may mean a reduced refund rather than automatic refusal, but Currys promises neither outcome.
Terms permit deductions for excess handling, damage, removed tags, installation or personal data, damaged packaging or missing accessories or free gifts; severe loss of value can leave nothing refundable. Amounts are unpublished. Inspection is not a 30-day trial; hygiene and software exclusions also apply.
Store Purchases Must Stay Sealed
Currys requires unwanted store purchases to remain unopened in sealed original packaging, with proof. UK law gives no general change-of-mind refund right for ordinary in-person purchases; faulty goods are different. If you are still deciding where to buy a TV or appliance, compare the John Lewis return policy.
How to Return to Currys: Pick the Right Route
At a Currys Store
Currys accepts eligible store-bought, store-collected and small online items, subject to exclusions.
- Find a branch with the Store Finder.
- Bring the goods and proof; online shoppers should bring their email receipt and payment card.
- For a store-bought item too large to carry, visit a store to arrange collection.
Store exclusions include online-only large kitchen appliances, gym equipment, online mobile contracts, online flexpay purchases and Custom PC builds; software activation key cards require collection. The appliance exclusion covers only large kitchen appliances sold online-only, not every appliance.
DPD Drop-Off With a QR Code or Printed Label
Currys offers DPD pickup-shop returns for suitable small online items.
- Request an emailed printer-free QR code or printable label.
- Pack the item; attach a printed label if using one, or take the QR code to the pickup shop.
- Drop off the parcel and keep dispatch evidence.
Currys does not say whether DPD returns are charged, so an emailed label does not mean postage is free.
Large Items and Home Collection
Currys directs large online returns to home collection.
- Use Webchat or Instant Assistant or the collection request form.
- Provide order and delivery details; confirm eligibility, any charge and collection arrangements.
The FAQ says collection returns can take up to 14 days to process, without defining the trigger or promising an appointment date. Price is unpublished. Same Day Big Box Collections must go back to a store, including flexpay purchases.
Phones, Mobile Contracts and the iPhone 18 Pro Max
Currys phone returns need device preparation and a check of network terms.
- Remove personal data and disable Find My Phone or Google Smart Lock; locked phones cannot be accepted.
- Include accessories, free gifts and proof, including the invoice transaction number; keep your SIM.
- Confirm the route and contract deactivation through Webchat.
SIM charges continue until deactivation. Currys’ store policy lets you change or cancel an iD contract within 14 days of purchase, but not a Vodafone one; online connected-airtime notice is within 14 days after delivery. Check your network agreement.
The current FAQ directs iPhone 18 Pro Max returns to any Currys store with proof because of its larger lithium battery. It does not reconcile flexpay, online-contract or PayPal restrictions: ask Webchat about your order first.
Custom PC Builds From PCSpecialist
Currys directs Custom PC builds to PCSpecialist’s RMA process.
- Access your PCSpecialist account using the order email.
- Choose Orders & Quotes, then My Returns.
- Request an RMA; PCSpecialist advises on troubleshooting and collection.
These builds cannot go back to Currys online or in store; no general change-of-mind window is published.
Can You Cancel a Currys Order Before Delivery?
Use the order cancellation form or clearly tell Currys you are cancelling; the form is optional. If the order is already out for delivery, use Webchat instead. Currys does not promise that an order in transit can be stopped.
Can You Return to Currys Without a Receipt?
Yes, with other accepted purchase evidence: Currys lists a sales receipt, bank statement or online sales invoice in its FAQ. Online-to-store instructions specify an email receipt and payment card.
Currys publishes no guaranteed card, account or Perks lookup, ID-only return or no-proof store-credit option. Gift-receipt and recipient-refund arrangements are also unpublished: ask before travelling. For faulty goods, the law accepts proof other than a receipt, such as a bank statement.
Do Currys Returns Cost Anything?
Currys publishes no general unwanted-return charge for DPD, collection or store handling. Ask before committing; no refund-issuing fee does not mean free return transport.
The terms distinguish these costs:
| What can come off or go back | Treatment |
|---|---|
| Standard original delivery, online change of mind | Refunded |
| Extra for express/timed delivery | Not refunded |
| Excess handling, damage, missing parts | Possible value reduction; amount unpublished |
| Services already provided | Proportionate charge; amount unpublished |
| Uninstalling a returned product | Possible fee; amount unpublished |
| Issuing the refund | No fee |
| Faulty-item collection from a UK address | Currys pays; refund includes applicable original delivery |
Example: Assume an eligible online order is returned unused within 30 days after you paid extra for timed delivery: Currys refunds the standard delivery price, not the timed-delivery extra.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, direct return costs can fall on you only if properly disclosed beforehand, unless the trader agrees to pay.
How Long Do Currys Refunds Take?
Currys’ terms promise a refund within 14 days of receiving the goods or your evidence that you sent them; the FAQ counts from when Currys receives the item. Currys does not publish how long your bank, card provider or PayPal then takes.
| Route | Return window | Currys processing | Bank/provider posting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Store | 30 days, eligible unwanted goods | Not published; FAQ calls this quickest | Not published |
| DPD | 30 days; deadline wording differs above | Within 14 days of goods or dispatch evidence; FAQ says receipt | Not published |
| Collection | 30 days, ordinary unwanted goods | Terms: 14 days from cancellation notification; FAQ: up to 14 days from item receipt | Not published |
| Qualifying faulty-goods legal rejection | Separate 30-day right | Within 14 days beginning when Currys agrees entitlement | Not published |
For collections, the FAQ counts from when Currys receives the item and the terms count from your cancellation notice. Expect up to 14 days after Currys gets the item back, and chase through Webchat once 14 days have passed from either point, whichever comes first. The two clocks do not add up to 28 days.
Refunds normally use original payment without a refund fee. Split-tender allocation and gift-card replacement mechanics are unpublished; ask about your payment combination.
Paid With PayPal or flexpay? How Your Refund Route Changes
An online PayPal order returned to a store gets an exchange or gift card; arrange post or collection through aftersales or Webchat to recover the PayPal payment. The terms repeat this store limitation for faulty goods, but statutory faulty-rejection refunds use the same payment means unless you expressly agree otherwise.
Online flexpay purchases cannot return to stores, except Same Day Big Box Collections, which must.
Currys does not say how this works for a Same Day Big Box Collection paid by PayPal, so ask Webchat before travelling.
Example: Assume eligible headphones bought online with PayPal are unused and within 30 days: a store offers exchange or gift card; a suitable DPD or collection return arranged through Currys refunds PayPal.
Exchanges at Currys
Currys offers direct exchanges for eligible store returns and DPD returns once received, under its small-item instructions. Category, condition and payment restrictions still apply; faulty discs or software under guarantee can receive a same-title exchange or refund.
Exchange charges, price differences, stock reservations, turnaround and different-model swaps are unpublished: confirm first. If you are considering second-hand electronics instead, compare the CeX return policy.
What Currys Won’t Take Back
Currys’ change-of-mind exclusions include:
- Unsealed hygiene goods, including shavers and sexual-wellness products; product pages may identify others.
- Opened sealed recordings, software or memory cards.
- Activation cards with the silver strip scratched.
- Personalised goods or goods inseparably mixed with other things.
- Started digital content and completed services, subject to applicable legal consent conditions.
These restrict change-of-mind returns, not faulty rights. Store-route exclusions appear above. Separate clearance or refurbished windows are unpublished; sale goods retain legal rights.
Bought Through Another Seller or Platform?
Currys publishes no universal marketplace-seller or TikTok return policy in the checked pages. Check your confirmation and contact the named seller or Currys through Webchat.
Faulty or Damaged Currys Items
Currys’ online terms offer repair, exchange or refund within 30 days of purchase, delivery or installation, whichever is later, after verifying the fault. Within the notified guarantee, Currys generally offers repair or exchange; consumables such as non-rechargeable batteries and ink cartridges have a three-month guarantee from delivery, as notified when ordering.
The policy describes the usual 12-month guarantee from buying, whereas the online terms count from delivery: act from purchase to be safe and check your guarantee paperwork. Accident, neglect, misuse and normal wear are excluded; Currys may inspect.
Include accessories, free gifts and packaging if possible; packaging is not mandatory for faults. Currys pays for UK faulty-item collection. The online collection form offers faulty reasons yet requires unused, uninstalled and original-packaging declarations, whereas the FAQ allows used faulty goods and terms qualify packaging. If a declaration is untrue, do not tick it: arrange through Webchat instead.
Damaged on Delivery
Currys asks shoppers to report damage as soon as discovered through Webchat, with order and delivery details. The FAQ offers damaged-item returns within 30 days after delivery; this reporting request does not replace statutory rights.
Faulty White Goods: Manufacturer First, Currys Still Responsible
Currys’ FAQ suggests checking the manual and contacting the manufacturer; Currys can connect you on 0344 561 1234, and the manufacturer may send an engineer. This troubleshooting route does not end Currys’ responsibility under consumer law.
Your Legal Rights Go Beyond Currys’ Policy
UK consumer law provides separate remedies. GOV.UK’s guidance and the legislation distinguish:
- Distance cancellation: the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 ordinarily give 14 days after possession to notify, then 14 days to send back unless collection is the trader’s responsibility. Refunds follow goods or earlier dispatch evidence, or notification where collection was offered, within 14 days.
- Faulty rejection: the Consumer Rights Act 2015 generally gives 30 days starting after possession and ownership, delivery and required installation conditions are met. Clearly notify rejection; repair waiting can pause this clock. Reasonable return costs fall on the trader, subject to the in-person return exception.
- Later remedies: repair or replacement at the trader’s cost, within reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, subject to feasibility and proportionality; failed, unavailable or delayed remedies can lead to price reduction or final rejection.
- Six-month presumption: for applicable repair or replacement and later remedies, faults appearing within six months are generally presumed present at delivery unless rebutted or incompatible with the goods or fault.
- Continuing rights: sale goods retain rights; warranties and plans add to them. Six years to claim, five in Scotland, is not a return window or guaranteed lifespan.
If Webchat does not resolve a refused return or overdue refund, make a formal complaint through Currys’ complaints page, and keep your return approval, dispatch evidence and complaint reference. Section 22 of Currys’ terms offers optional dispute resolution through CDRL without a complaint fee, with court still available if you are dissatisfied.
Currys’ voluntary conditions and legal rights differ. This guide explains Currys’ published rules and the law in general terms; it is not legal advice for an individual dispute. Read how StoreReturners checks official sources.
Do Perks or Currys Protection Plans Extend Returns?
No general return-window extension is published for these memberships and plans. Perks is free; individual offers may have separate terms, so check the offer.
Care & Repair provides separate repair or replacement-voucher benefits; vouchers are not cash refunds. Instant Replacement is a paid three-year eligible-breakdown replacement plan, excluding accidental or cosmetic damage, not a three-year unwanted-goods window. Plans have their own cancellation terms: check your agreement before relying on a deadline.
Currys Return Policy Mistakes That Cost You Money
- Opening store purchases: decide while the original packaging remains sealed.
- Taking online PayPal goods to store: arrange post or collection for a PayPal refund.
- Assuming day-30 posting suffices: request approval early and confirm the deadline.
- Declaring used faulty goods unused: use Webchat if the form cannot be completed truthfully.
- Leaving phone locks active or SIM cancellation late: disable security locks, keep the SIM and arrange deactivation.
- Treating manufacturer contact as the end: pursue qualifying statutory remedies against Currys.
The Currys return policy normally allows 30 days. Online inspection differs from opening store purchases, and payment method can change the return route.
FAQ
Can I return a Currys item to a different store?
Yes: Currys says goods bought or collected at a store can go to any Currys store. Check the route exclusions first, particularly online flexpay, mobile contracts and online-only large appliances. Same Day Big Box Collections must return to a store, including flexpay purchases; bring purchase proof.
Can I return a sale or clearance item to Currys?
Currys publishes no separate general clearance or refurbished-goods window in the checked sources, so use the ordinary conditions and confirm product-specific restrictions. Discounted goods retain the same statutory remedy rights as full-priced goods; a lower price does not by itself remove rights for a qualifying fault.
How do I check the status of my Currys return?
Use Currys Webchat to check an existing return. Have your order details and any dispatch evidence ready. The FAQ says to contact support once more than 14 days have passed since Currys received the item. Bank or provider posting time after refund issue is not published separately.
Can I return a gift bought from Currys?
Currys requires purchase proof but publishes no general gift-receipt or recipient-refund scheme in the checked pages. Ask the buyer for a receipt, bank statement or online invoice, and confirm the arrangement with Currys before travelling. Do not assume the recipient can receive cash or no-proof store credit.
Does Currys refund delivery if I return only part of an order?
Currys refunds standard original delivery on qualifying online change-of-mind returns, excluding the express or timed extra. However, its terms do not explain how delivery is apportioned when only part of an order goes back. Ask Currys to confirm your partial-order calculation before assuming the whole delivery charge will be refunded.
