Schuh Returns Policy: 365 Days, £3.99 Postal Fee and Refunds

The Schuh returns policy gives UK shoppers 365 days to return unused, eligible online and store purchases. Eligible store returns are free; online postal refunds have £3.99 deducted. Partner-fulfilled items go to Schuh HQ, while some goods, including socks removed from their packaging, are excluded under the voluntary policy.

  • Schuh allows 365 days for unused eligible goods, but does not publish when the count starts.
  • Eligible store returns are free; online postal refunds lose £3.99, including for myschuh customers.
  • The Returns Portal needs an order number and email; postal options include InPost, Evri, Yodel and Asda toyou.
  • Partner items go to HQ, ex-display pairs by post only, and Crep Protect in store only.
  • Black Friday 2026 purchases use the standard policy; no Christmas 2026 extension was published as of 28 October 2026.

This guide covers schuh.co.uk/GBP orders and UK stores; Irish and EU rules differ. Browse more UK store return guides.

How Long Is the Schuh Returns Window?

365 days is Schuh’s voluntary window for unused eligible UK online and store purchases, according to its returns terms. Faulty-goods rights are separate.

Bought your trainers from JD Sports instead? Check JD Sports’ own return rules rather than applying Schuh’s allowance.

Does the 365 days start at purchase or delivery?

Schuh does not publish the start event, calendar-versus-working-day definition, or whether starting, posting or receiving the return meets the deadline. Start and send the return well before you think the year is up; keep proof of postage.

Black Friday, Kids and SCHUH CLUB purchases

Schuh’s Black Friday 2026 guidance confirms the standard 365 days. Schuh Kids and standard/student SCHUH CLUB memberships use that same allowance, with the unused-item requirement and category exclusions. Schuh offers a fitting service for Kids’ shoes, but the unused-item rule still applies, so there is no worn-shoe fit guarantee.

Is there a Schuh Christmas return extension for 2026?

As of 28 October 2026, Schuh had published no separate Christmas 2026 extension in its returns policy, 2026 gift guide or Black Friday notice. The page headed “Christmas Information 2025” concerns the previous season, regardless of its footer year. Recheck the returns page in November before relying on seasonal arrangements or fees.

Does Schuh Charge for Returns?

Yes: £3.99 is deducted from online postal refunds, including myschuh customers; eligible store returns are free. Schuh’s fee notice does not define the charge per item, order or parcel, repeat-return charges or non-fault exemptions. Check the fee shown for your order rather than multiplying £3.99 yourself.

Postage for mailing a store purchase or arranging your own service is not published as a fixed amount. For confirmed faulty or wrong orders, Schuh reimburses postage where applicable. Original delivery reimbursement on an ordinary voluntary return is not published; legal cancellation has separate rules.

Example: assume one eligible £80 pair returned by post, with one £3.99 deduction and no other adjustment. The refund is £76.01. This does not establish a per-order or per-parcel charging rule.

For comparison, Next’s courier returns cost £2.50 and eligible store returns are free; Schuh deducts £3.99 for online postal refunds.

Are postal exchanges free at Schuh?

Schuh’s pages word the charge differently: the returns notice charges postal returns broadly, while terms clause 5.2.3 says exchanges are free. A permitted in-store size swap is free; by post, assume £3.99 may apply and check the portal before submitting, or ask Customer Experience which charge applies to your order.

How to Return to Schuh: Pick the Route for Your Item

Check the item category before choosing a return carrier. Bought directly from Nike instead? Follow Nike’s UK return rules.

At a UK Schuh store

Schuh accepts store purchases and eligible online orders at UK stores accepting the purchase currency.

  1. Check the store finder and the item restrictions below.
  2. Take unused goods with the store receipt or online confirmation email/printout and original payment method.
  3. Bring the returns form: Schuh’s checklist includes it, although whether its absence blocks a return is not published.

Eligible card refunds go to the card used; eligible footwear can be exchanged directly. Partner and ex-display items cannot use this route.

By post with InPost, Evri, Yodel or Asda toyou

Schuh offers these four carriers for eligible postal returns, including store purchases.

  1. For online orders, open the Returns Portal with the order number and email. For store purchases, use the carrier options beneath that button on the returns page.
  2. Choose a carrier and follow its instructions.
  3. Pack securely, using the original shoe box where possible.
  4. Include order paperwork/reference and the returns form, or a note with your name, address, phone number and reason.
  5. Drop off the parcel or book an available collection.
  6. Keep proof of postage; Schuh recommends tracked post.

The carrier instructions distinguish:

  • InPost: QR code, no attached label; same-order items in one parcel, maximum 41 × 38 × 64 cm.
  • Evri: ParcelShop, locker or courier collection, depending on booking availability.
  • Yodel: drop-off/label instructions; print-at-home is unsupported.
  • Asda toyou: follow its drop-off and label link.

Schuh does not publish size, weight or postcode limits for the other carriers, and it lists no Post Office or Royal Mail service among its return options or a price for posting a return yourself. For a legal cancellation, its terms give the Livingston address and recommend a Post Office certificate of posting. Before using the Post Office for an ordinary return, ask Customer Experience which address and deduction apply.

Partner-fulfilled items go to Schuh HQ

Schuh’s Partner programme panel gives unused partner-fulfilled items a 365-day refund route to HQ, excluding stores.

Schuh uses “partner” to describe how the item is fulfilled; it does not name a separate seller. Schuh does not say whether partner items can be exchanged. Contact Schuh about faulty partner items before choosing a route.

Ex-display pairs, Crep Protect and other route limits

Schuh allows ex-display pairs to be returned by post for a refund, with no store return or size, colour or style exchange. Crep Protect must go in store because of shipping limits. Sunglasses sent by post need secure boxing. Check the returns exclusions and category terms before preparing the goods.

What Condition Do Schuh Returns Need to Be In?

Schuh’s voluntary policy requires unused goods, with different packaging rules by category:

  • Footwear: unused; original shoe box where possible.
  • Clothing: original condition, labels/tags intact, original packaging.
  • Sunglasses: packaging, tags, labels and certification stickers; securely boxed for post.
  • Socks: excluded once removed from their original packaging.

Schuh’s terms do not publish universal footwear tag/accessory requirements. Keep what came with the goods, without treating clothing rules as a blanket shoe rule.

Items Schuh Won’t Refund

Schuh’s exclusions cover:

  • Socks removed from their packaging.
  • Purchased Schuh gift cards.
  • IMBOX treatment costs, even where the goods qualify for return.
  • Gift-box costs, under the gifting rules.

A universal final-sale, custom-goods or restocking-fee rule is not published; ask Schuh about an uncertain item. These voluntary limits do not remove fault rights.

Returning to Schuh Without a Receipt or as a Gift

For online purchases returned in store, Schuh accepts printed or emailed order confirmation. If the email is missing, check junk first; Customer Experience can resend it.

Schuh requests the receipt for store purchases under the voluntary policy. Lost-receipt lookup, ID-only returns and bank-statement acceptance are not published, so ask before travelling. Statutory proof for a faulty purchase can include a bank statement; that does not create a voluntary no-receipt route.

Can a gift recipient get a refund from Schuh?

Schuh offers gift recipients with a despatch note an in-store exchange or Schuh gift card, rather than a cash refund. Its gifting FAQ excludes the gift-box cost. Partner/ex-display routing restrictions still apply.

How Long Do Schuh Refunds Take?

Schuh does not publish a general end-to-end voluntary refund time. Its returns page and FAQ describe separate stages:

Clock Published guidance What remains unknown
Return window 365 days for unused eligible goods Start and deadline action: Not published
Transit and retailer processing Allow up to 14 days for arrival; contact email within 3 days after receipt Refund completion after receipt: Not published
Bank/provider posting Not published Time after refund issue: Not published
Store refund Card purchases refunded to card used Processing and posting: Not published

Schuh asks shoppers to wait two weeks before a general return enquiry. If tracking confirms delivery but no email arrives within three days, the FAQ says to contact Schuh. Do not add 14 and three days into a promised refund date.

Gift cards, Love2Shop, One4all and other payments

Schuh publishes these refund destinations:

  • Card purchases returned in store: the card used.
  • Physical/digital Schuh gift-card payments: a new gift card, under the gift-card terms.
  • Love2Shop payments: a Schuh gift card.
  • One4all payments: the original One4all card; contact One4all if lost or discarded.

The payment FAQ does not establish a general postal destination for cash, PayPal, wallets or split payments. Schuh’s accessible payment guidance does not specify Klarna/Clearpay refund allocation, instalment changes or posting times; confirm with Schuh and the provider.

Discounts, SCHUH CLUB points and referral rewards

Schuh’s Single/Mixed Shoe Sale and 10% student discount returns refund the discounted price; the discount is lost.

Under SCHUH CLUB terms, returns revoke pending points within 28 days or available points after settlement. Already-issued gift-card rewards are retained and the points balance cannot fall below zero. Referral rewards depend on qualifying purchases remaining uncancelled, with SCHUH CLUB referral points also conditional on no return. Check these effects before deciding between a refund and an exchange.

Can You Exchange Schuh Shoes for Another Size?

Yes: Schuh supports direct in-store exchanges of eligible unused footwear, excluding ex-display pairs.

Postal exchanges are mentioned in the terms, but the request process, reservation, price differences, replacement delivery and stock guarantees are not published. Check the postal exchange fee conflict before posting. Partner-item exchanges are not specified; ask Customer Experience.

Faulty Schuh Shoes and Your UK Rights

Schuh asks shoppers to take faulty goods and proof to a store for inspection; a manufacturing defect leads to a refund or replacement. If visiting is impractical, send them to HQ with your name, address, contact details and a proof copy. Ask Customer Experience about partner or shipping-restricted items. Postage is reimbursed where applicable; inspection time and any separate voluntary fault deadline are not published.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 normally gives a 30-day short-term right to reject faulty goods, starting the day after ownership and delivery requirements are met. To use it, tell Schuh clearly within that period that you reject the faulty goods and want a refund. Taking them in for inspection or posting them to HQ may not say that by itself, so put the rejection in writing through Customer Experience, keep a copy, and then return the goods as Schuh asks. Repair waiting periods can affect that clock. Later remedies include timely repair/replacement without significant inconvenience, then potentially a price reduction or final rejection if that remedy fails or is impossible.

A fault appearing within six months is generally presumed present at delivery, subject to exceptions. For statutory rejection, the trader bears reasonable return costs, subject to the Act’s in-person travel-cost exception, and refunds within 14 days of agreeing entitlement, using the same payment means unless agreed otherwise.

GOV.UK distinguishes in-store change of mind, which has no general legal refund right, from faults; sale goods retain fault rights. Ordinary wear and tear is not a fault.

This guide cannot confirm your order’s carrier choices, fee screen or exchange options: those require the Returns Portal or Customer Experience.

What if your Schuh shoes break after a few months?

Schuh shoes that develop a fault after 30 days normally enter the legal repair/replacement route first, rather than an automatic refund. Use Schuh’s inspection procedure and supply proof. The voluntary 365-day window is not a legal limit on fault rights.

Cancelling a Schuh online order within 14 days

For qualifying online goods, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give 14 days after receipt to notify cancellation, or after the last item arrives in a split order.

  1. Notify Schuh using the confirmation-email cancellation form by post, phone 0207 100 1515, or Customer Experience. State that you are cancelling under the regulations.
  2. Send the goods back within 14 days after notification, to schuh Returns, schuh Ltd, 1 Neilson Square, Deans Industrial Estate, Livingston, Scotland, EH54 8RQ.
  3. Keep proof; Schuh’s terms recommend a Post Office certificate of posting. Return costs are normally yours where properly disclosed and not waived. Refunds are due without undue delay, within 14 days of receipt or earlier proof of sending, using the same payment means unless expressly agreed otherwise.

The refund includes the cheapest standard outbound delivery, not premium excess. Handling beyond a shop-style examination can justify a diminished-value deduction.

Schuh’s clause 10.1 words the start differently: it refers both to the contract-confirmation “Commencement Date” and the day after receipt. The regulations establish the receipt-based rule. Notify Schuh as soon as you decide, rather than waiting until the final receipt-based day; ask Customer Experience about its wording, while relying on the regulations for the legal deadline.

Example: assume an eligible online order, all items delivered on 28 October 2026, cancelled under the regulations. The notification period runs 29 October–11 November 2026. Notice on 11 November means sending the goods back by 25 November 2026.

Schuh Returns Policy Mistakes That Cost You Money

Avoid these Schuh returns policy mistakes by matching the route and refund expectation to the item:

  • Posting when an eligible store return suits you: use the free store route to avoid the £3.99 online postal deduction.
  • Taking partner/ex-display items to a shop: send them to HQ/by post respectively.
  • Posting Crep Protect: return it in store.
  • Discarding packaging too soon: keep the shoe box where possible; leave sock packaging intact.
  • Expecting money within 14 days of posting: track arrival, then distinguish contact, processing and bank posting.
  • Following Irish/EU or obsolete fee advice: use Schuh’s UK policy; membership does not waive the postal-refund deduction.

FAQ

Do myschuh or SCHUH CLUB members get free returns?

Schuh does not give members a universal free-return entitlement. The £3.99 online postal-refund deduction explicitly includes myschuh customers. Eligible store returns are free. Standard and student SCHUH CLUB members have the same 365-day window; membership does not extend it or remove the unused-item requirement.

Can I return Schuh shoes I’ve worn outside?

Schuh’s voluntary policy requires unused goods, so shoes worn outside do not meet that condition simply because 365 days remain. Schuh Kids follows the same unused-item policy. If the problem is a manufacturing defect, use Schuh’s inspection route and statutory fault rights instead of describing the shoes as unsuitable.

Does Schuh refund my original delivery charge?

Schuh does not publish original-delivery reimbursement for an ordinary voluntary return. A qualifying legal cancellation includes the cheapest standard outbound delivery charge; premium delivery excess need not be refunded. Tell Schuh which route you are using, rather than assuming every return within 365 days includes delivery.

Can I post two items from one order separately with InPost?

Schuh’s InPost instructions ask for items from the same order to share one parcel, within the 41 × 38 × 64 cm maximum. The policy does not publish whether £3.99 applies per item, order or parcel. Ask Schuh before splitting the return; do not calculate a second charge yourself.

Will Schuh refund the IMBOX treatment if I return the shoes?

Schuh excludes the IMBOX treatment cost from voluntary refunds: the return covers eligible goods, not that service charge. An unused treated pair may still qualify for a goods refund. Keep the treatment cost separate from the shoe price when estimating the money due, and check any postal deduction too.
