Best Buy Price Match Policy: 19 Stores, Price Drops and 2026 Rules

Best Buy price match at a glance

Best Buy matches a Qualified Competitor's current price at the time of sale, subject to these conditions:

• Both products are new and have the same brand, model number and color.
• Best Buy's product is immediately available; the competitor's identical product is immediately available for shipping or Store Pickup.
• Out-of-stock and advertised limited-quantity items don't qualify.
• The comparison uses the current pre-tax price available to all customers, with one match per identical item per customer at purchase.

First, confirm that the seller appears on Best Buy's list below. If you decide to buy at Walmart instead, check Walmart's return rules before you pay.

Which stores does Best Buy price match?

Best Buy names 19 Qualified Competitors on its official competitor list:

Unlisted retailers don't qualify, and Best Buy publishes no local-distance radius: use the named list. Older guides still say 20 stores; the list has 19. The list is dated May 11, 2025; the guarantee itself took effect September 2, 2026.

Amazon, Walmart and other online sellers: direct sales only

Amazon, Walmart and Target qualify when the retailer itself sells the item. Third-party offers are excluded, even for identical models. Shipping and delivery charges are excluded from the comparison; competitor installation, delivery and computer-service prices aren't matched. If you choose Amazon instead, read Amazon's return policy for the distinction between its own items and third-party purchases.

How does Best Buy match Costco, Sam's Club and BJ's prices?

Best Buy matches qualifying warehouse clubs. If the club requires a membership login to display its price, Best Buy requires an in-store request with the live offer; a screenshot isn't sufficient, according to its warehouse-club FAQ.

Other membership-program and loyalty prices remain excluded. Best Buy doesn't explain the combined case of a login-gated club price and an existing online or Store Pickup order, which cannot be adjusted in store. Ask before ordering online, or purchase in store with the live offer. If buying at Costco is your alternative, compare Costco's electronics return rules too.

Best Buy's own lower prices have a separate after-purchase promise.

Best Buy matches its own eligible lower store, online or app price when you ask during the product's return-and-exchange period. Ordinary adjustments aren't automatic, and no paid membership is required. Multiple qualifying later adjustments are allowed.

Example: Assume a Standard customer receives an eligible $200 product sold by Best Buy on November 2, 2026, and Best Buy lowers it to $170 on November 6 and $150 on November 9, 2026. Both drops fall within the ordinary 15-day period: the customer can request $30, then another $20, totaling $50 pre-tax.

How long is the Best Buy price adjustment window?

For most products, the period is 15 days for Standard customers or 60 days for My Best Buy Plus and Total members, beginning the day the product is received. Best Buy's return-period rules supply the category exceptions:

A return period doesn't make an excluded product price-match eligible; subscription offers, for example, stay excluded. Marketplace products receive no member extension. Best Buy doesn't specify calendar versus business days, a complete inclusive-counting formula, or the last-day cutoff and time zone; ask as soon as the price drops.

Best Buy's website, app and store prices

Best Buy matches its online/app price on eligible store purchases and its store price on eligible online/app purchases, excluding Puerto Rico. An app price must be available to all customers.

For Store Pickup, ask if the new item's price is lower in the store or on BestBuy.com when you collect it. The order remains a BestBuy.com purchase for request purposes.

Price drops before delivery, at pickup and on preorders

Scheduled-delivery items qualify for eligible Best Buy price drops any time before the scheduled delivery date. Call 1-888-237-8289; Best Buy promises 100% of the difference including tax. Stores and email cannot process this request. Best Buy states no separate call deadline; call as soon as you see the drop.

Preorders are charged the lower Best Buy price automatically if it is lower at shipment, under Best Buy's pricing help. This doesn't promise every temporary pre-shipment low; competitor preorder offers are excluded.

Can you get a competitor's lower price after buying?

Best Buy doesn't promise a later competitor match: its express competitor guarantee applies at sale, while its later-price promise names Best Buy's own reductions. The pages don't expressly extend that guarantee to later competitor prices or expressly forbid those requests.

Compare before paying. If a competitor drops later, you can ask, but don't count on approval. Older guides promise later competitor refunds without support in Best Buy's terms. Use the channel tied to your purchase.

Best Buy routes requests by purchase channel and verifies the qualifying price. Follow three steps:

1. Compare the seller, model, color, availability and offer against the Price Match Guarantee.
2. Gather the live lower-price evidence and your purchase details.
3. Use the purchase-channel route below, following Best Buy's request FAQs.

For a purchase in a Best Buy store

Ask a Customer Specialist or the Customer Service desk at a Best Buy or Pacific Sales store while buying or during the adjustment period; use Best Buy's store locator to find a location. For a store purchase shipped to you, the later request must come from the person in the Bill To field.

Show the current offer described below. The guarantee also covers Best Buy Mobile, Pacific Kitchen and Home, Magnolia Design Center and Magnolia Home Theater within Best Buy.

For a BestBuy.com, app or Store Pickup order

Use Best Buy's contact page for chat, or call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) while buying or during the adjustment period. Chat must be requested by the purchaser. For a shipped order, a later request must come from the person in the Bill To field. Have the live offer ready; these orders cannot be matched in store or by email.

After receipt or pickup, sign in to Order Details and use “See details” to check availability. Best Buy doesn't document the account-specific result or a dedicated app adjustment button. Use chat or phone if the check is unclear; Best Buy can limit chat requests.

What proof does Best Buy accept?

Best Buy accepts a current competitor ad or website address showing a lower price still in effect. Best Buy may call the competitor or check its website to verify price and availability.

Best Buy publishes no universal receipt/order-number checklist or no-receipt adjustment route. Have your receipt or order number ready; don't assume return-policy receipt lookups apply.

Best Buy's exclusions distinguish competitor offers from exclusions applying to either seller.

Are Black Friday prices and doorbusters excluded?

Competitor Black Friday offers are excluded; that clause doesn't suspend Best Buy's own-price adjustments. Best Buy excludes competitor Black Friday-labeled pricing, special daily/hourly sales and offers from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after.

Applied to the 2026 calendar, that's Thursday, November 19 through Monday, November 30, 2026. Older guides start on Friday or Thanksgiving Day. Advertised limited-quantity items remain excluded for either seller, regardless of “doorbuster” labeling; the guarantee doesn't name a separate doorbuster rule.

Best Buy Marketplace products aren't covered before or after purchase, even if Best Buy itself later sells the same model for less. Best Buy Business and Education prices aren't matched either.

Stores within Best Buy share the guarantee; other Best Buy-branded websites can have different terms. Puerto Rico stores post their own guarantee in store. The BestBuy.com terms incorporate the guarantee, which Best Buy may test in select locations and amend at any time. Check the seller before purchasing, then check any promotion attached to the price.

Coupons require a choice: use a coupon or a match on the product, including Best Buy's own coupons.

Financing offers and credit-card offers from either Best Buy or a competitor aren't matched. An eligible matched original purchase may still use Best Buy's low- or no-interest financing; this doesn't guarantee eligibility for every financing promotion.

Membership isn't required to request a match. The Plus terms and Total terms extend most direct-product windows to 60 days. Adding either membership doesn't itself create an excluded bundle; member prices aren't matched for nonmembers.

Best Buy publishes no separate longer window for holding the My Best Buy Credit Card alone.

How many price matches can you get?

Best Buy allows one match per identical item per customer at purchase, then multiple qualifying later adjustments during the applicable period. Installment-billing phones have a separate one-match-per-phone limit.

Best Buy publishes no numerical unit cap for ordinary matching, but can limit chat requests and order quantities. Each request must qualify on its own.

Best Buy doesn't publish the payout destination or processing/posting time for ordinary adjustments. Its price-match FAQs specify remedies for scheduled delivery and installment phones separately.

Scheduled-delivery adjustments include 100% of the difference including tax. Ordinary competitor comparisons use pre-tax prices; Best Buy doesn't override sales tax, and a tax holiday alone doesn't support an adjustment without a lower pre-tax price.

The return policy's usual same-payment refund rule covers returned merchandise, not expressly price differences. Best Buy lists no fee for a price-match request. Check your order and statement, then contact Best Buy if the credit isn't visible.

Phones bought on installment billing

If Best Buy lowers its overall installment price during the phone's return period, bring the phone to a Best Buy store. A qualifying pricing-history review can result in a Best Buy Gift Card for the overall installment-price difference.

Alternatively, return the phone and contract, then buy a new phone and contract at the lower price. Delete all phone data and pay applicable return-related fees. All offers count toward the original price; only one match per phone is allowed. This covers Best Buy's own installment-price reduction; competitor contract-phone offers stay excluded.

Best Buy's October 27, 2026 holiday announcement confirms a Holiday Price Match Guarantee for eligible Best Buy-sold products whose own price falls during the season. Marketplace items are excluded, and limitations apply.

The announcement's separate holiday return dates cover most purchases made October 30–December 31, 2026: returns through January 15, 2027, or January 31, 2027 for Plus and Total members. These aren't published price-match dates. The annual competitor exclusion above maps to November 19–30, 2026; the announcement doesn't replace that rule. An older Holiday FAQ still shows last season's return dates.

Does the 2026 holiday guarantee have published dates?

The announcement doesn't specify exact purchase dates, price-drop coverage dates or a final claim deadline for the 2026 price guarantee. Rely on the ordinary applicable period from receipt and ask promptly until Best Buy publishes seasonal details; don't treat January 15 or January 31, 2027 as a price-match deadline.

Best Buy ties adjustment timing to the return period, but returns and price matching are separate promises. Clearance, open-box, refurbished and pre-owned products may qualify for returns while remaining excluded from price matching.

Best Buy doesn't say whether an adjustment resets the return clock, changes later eligibility or changes the exact later refund calculation. Keep your receipt and adjustment record together; don't expect the original price back on a later return. Best Buy also leaves final-sale/nonreturnable products and the effect of using a product unspecified; ask about your item before relying on an adjustment.

Misreading the Best Buy price match policy can send a qualifying request to the wrong channel. Avoid:

• Using a third-party seller's price on Amazon or another site.
• Asking a store to adjust a BestBuy.com or Store Pickup order.
• Bringing only a screenshot of a login-only warehouse price.
• Counting from the order date instead of receipt.
• Assuming Thanksgiving exclusions stop Best Buy's own adjustments or start on Thanksgiving Day.
• Expecting a coupon plus a price match.

Best Buy matches 19 named competitors at purchase. Its own eligible later drops require a request within the return period. Use the purchase-channel route. Exact holiday matching dates remain unpublished.
