How Long Is the Asda George Return Window?
100 days covers eligible George Clothing and George Home online; 30 calendar days covers third-party brands and supplier-direct items. Both start at delivery or actual Click & Collect collection, rather than order placement or the collection notification, under George's returns rules.
George does not define the 100 days as calendar or working days. Goods should be undamaged, saleable and complete in original packaging; stop using anything selected for return, and check the exclusions below before choosing a route.
George and other brands in the same order
Example: Assume an eligible George top and an eligible third-party-brand top arrive together. The George top gets 100 days; the other top gets 30 calendar days. Sharing a parcel does not give both the longer window.
Does starting a return on the last day count?
Starting an account return alone is not a safe way to meet the deadline. The returns guide says return within 30 days; George's terms instead say cancel within 30 calendar days. Neither establishes a posting or arrival grace period.
Safe action: tell George you are returning the item, by starting the return in your account or calling 0330 053 0111, and get the parcel to a store or into the post well before day 30. George does not confirm that posting on the final day is enough, and the 100-day guarantee does not say which step must happen by day 100 either. Keep proof of drop-off or posting, and check the order page or customer service if you are close to either deadline.
Is there a Christmas return extension for 2026?
No 2026 George Christmas extension was found in the official policy evidence. The standing 100 days is not a seasonal extension: use the ordinary brand window and recheck George's returns page before relying on extra time for gifts.
Returning George Items Bought in an Asda Store
The 100 Day Guarantee covers George Clothing and George Home bought in UK mainland Asda stores with proof of purchase; franchises are excluded. The page does not state the clock's starting event, so count conservatively from purchase and keep the receipt.
Asda's published pages do not set out a general in-store 30-day policy or a Northern Ireland in-store guarantee. Ordinary in-person purchases have no general legal change-of-mind refund right. If you also buy clothing at Sainsbury's, our Sainsbury's return policy guide explains its rules separately.
Can You Return to Asda Without a Receipt?
An in-store George guarantee claim needs proof of purchase; Asda does not publish a verified no-receipt alternative for till purchases. Online orders have documented account and order-number routes:
- For store returns of online orders, George's terms say to bring the delivery note and original debit or credit card.
- The returns guide provides an account route using an emailed QR code.
- For post without a delivery note, use the replacement returns form or put the order number on paper inside the parcel.
ID-based refunds, card or Rewards lookups, gift-receipt rules and no-receipt store-credit values are unpublished; ask before travelling. For statutory faulty-goods claims, GOV.UK recognises alternative purchase evidence, including bank statements or packaging. That does not make a change-of-mind return possible without proof of purchase.
How to Return a George.com Order
Free drop-off at an Asda, George or Asda Living store
- Sign in to your George.com account, open the order and select the items to return.
- Obtain the emailed QR code and pack the selected items together.
- Use the account's available locations and Asda Store Locator to plan your trip.
- Scan the QR code at the store collection point to print the label; no home printer is needed.
Your account shows which locations offer Faster Refund. Check for your QR email before leaving; Asda Express and collection-only products cannot use this route, under George's drop-off instructions.
Handing a parcel to your Asda grocery driver
- Check that the item qualifies under its George return policy and that you are within Asda's grocery delivery area.
- Pack securely, attach the returns label to the outside, put the returns note inside and have the QR code ready.
- Hand the eligible George/toyou parcel to your grocery delivery driver.
- Ask the driver for the proof-of-return receipt and keep it.
The grocery terms require parcels under 15 kg and print dimensions as 60 × 60 × 90 or less without units. Confirm the size before using this route; Express third-party couriers are excluded. Do not substitute driver hand-over for a required specialist collection.
Posting a return with Royal Mail
- Include the delivery note, replacement form or order number on paper.
- Address the parcel to George Online Returns Dept, GXO, Unit 4, Hurricane Way South, Sherburn Distribution Park, Sherburn in Elmet, LS25 6PT.
- Pay postage and retain proof of cost, posting and tracking.
The postal instructions publish no fixed price. Full-order Royal Mail returns may qualify for reimbursement through Asda's postage refund form, with cost evidence; detailed eligibility and the ceiling are unpublished. Check before paying, and do not self-post collection-only goods.
Which items need a home collection?
Gaming consoles and accessories, home-delivered furniture/upholstery, large domestic electricals, two-person deliveries and items unavailable for Click & Collect need arranged collection.
- Book the collection through your account instructions or by calling 0330 053 0111.
- For Direct from Supplier items, follow the despatch note and keep goods unused, resaleable and in original packaging; the courier normally brings the label.
The main UK guide bars supplier-direct store returns, while supplier help permits some when the despatch note says so. Only use a store if the note or account expressly allows it; otherwise arrange collection with customer service.
Does Asda Charge for George Returns?
Eligible store drop-off and Asda-arranged collection are free; Royal Mail postage is paid upfront. The George guide distinguishes these methods:
| Method | Charge | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible store drop-off | Free | Not Asda Express |
| Grocery-driver hand-over | Not published | Confirm before relying on it |
| Asda-arranged collection | Free | Supplier-specific arrangements need checking |
| Royal Mail | Customer pays upfront | No fixed price published; full-order reimbursement conditional |
| Eligible faulty postal return | Customer pays upfront | Claim reasonable costs with evidence |
Restocking and exchange fees are unpublished; confirm any charge. George may reduce a voluntary refund for careless handling, transit damage or part-assembly; no percentage is stated. Photograph condition and pack carefully.
Will Asda refund your delivery charge?
George's returns guide says standard delivery is refunded when goods are returned within 14 days; its terms instead say the order must be cancelled within 14 calendar days of delivery or collection. Safest action: get the whole return back within 14 days and ask customer service about your order.
Premium delivery and partial-order change-of-mind refunds are not clearly published. Faulty-item refunds include outbound delivery and reasonable return costs, but where you keep part of an order, the stated delivery refund is only the premium-minus-standard difference if premium delivery was paid. If you are comparing postal-return costs between clothing retailers, our Next return policy guide sets out Next's charges separately.
How Long Do Asda George Refunds Take?
Faster Refund stores process returns the same day, followed by 3–5 working days to receive funds; Standard Refund stores can take up to 14 working days. The returns guide and terms describe different stages:
| Route | Return window | Retailer processing | Bank/provider posting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Faster Refund store | Applicable 100 days/30 calendar days | Same day | 3–5 working days after processing |
| Standard Refund store | Applicable brand window | Up to 14 working days (store route estimate) | Not published |
| Direct from Supplier | 30 calendar days | Normally within 14 days of receiving the item (supplier help) | Not published |
| Post | Applicable brand window | Within 14 days of receiving goods or return evidence | Not published |
| Asda collection | Applicable brand window | Within 14 days of notification where Asda collects | Not published |
These are separate clocks, not stages to add into a promised total. George sends confirmation after processing; if overdue, use its refund enquiry form.
Faster Refund and Standard Refund stores
George's guide text says up to 14 days for Standard Refund, while its banner and a store service page say 14 working days. Allow the longer 14-working-day reading after a Standard return before enquiring; confirm order-specific timing with customer service.
PayPal, gift card and eVoucher refunds
Card refunds return to the original card in GBP; PayPal UK payments return to PayPal UK, with up to five days to clear. George does not define those five days as working or calendar days. Gift-card refunds return to the original gift card, so retain it.
The guide says eVoucher value returns to your George.com account; the terms say eVouchers are non-refundable discounts allocated across items. The pages do not explain whether different voucher types are meant. Keep the order confirmation and ask customer service before returning if that value matters.
Do you lose Rewards points when you return something?
George Rewards purchase points are removed when a purchase is cancelled. Under separate Asda Rewards terms, mission-related Cashpot earnings may be deducted, and voucher-funded return value becomes an Asda Gift Card.
Example: Assume an accepted £30 in-store return, paid with a £10 Asda Rewards voucher and £20 by card, with no other discounts. The refund is £10 on an Asda Gift Card and £20 to the card. George.com eVouchers follow the separate, unresolved wording above. No member-only return window or fee waiver is published.
Can You Exchange a George Item?
George's guide allows exchanges for home-delivered items within the applicable window, but recommends a refund through your account as the fastest route, followed by reordering. Stock holds, size/colour handling, turnaround and exchange fees are unpublished: ask customer service before relying on an exchange, and check eligibility first.
What Asda George Won't Take Back
George's terms restrict change-of-mind returns for newspapers, magazines, perishables, unwrapped health/hygiene goods, swimwear with removed hygiene seals and goods installed through Asda's installation service. Hygiene examples include pierced jewellery, mattresses, grooming products, medicines and some baby items.
No general sale exclusion, shorter sale window or blanket tags-attached rule is published. The general condition is saleable, undamaged, complete goods in original packaging; specific seals still matter. Check with George if condition or category eligibility is uncertain.
Items left out of the 100-day guarantee
Watches, jewellery, hair accessories, indoor/outdoor furniture, mattresses and franchises are excluded from the 100-day guarantee. Exclusion from 100 days alone does not remove any applicable 30-day or statutory rights; an unwrapped mattress also raises the separate hygiene restriction.
Can you return games, consoles and software?
Treat games, consoles, DVDs, CDs and software as non-returnable for a change of mind unless they are still security-sealed. George's terms list consoles, games, DVDs, CDs and software as exclusions but also require unused, security-sealed condition. Confirm acceptance with customer service before sending. Consoles/accessories remain collection-only. Fault claims use a separate route.
Faulty George Items and Your Legal Rights
For damage, faults, misdescription or missing parts discovered within 30 calendar days of delivery/collection, George's terms describe refund, price reduction, repair or replacement. Later, repair/replacement normally comes first, followed by refund/reduction if unsuccessful or unavailable.
Start online with Damaged/Faulty, or call 0330 053 0111. Use eligible stores, excluding Asda Express; collection-only products still need customer service. For eligible postal returns, pay upfront and claim reasonable costs with postage evidence, tracking and clear fault photos.
Furniture, large electricals and installation
Furniture/upholstery costing £100 or more has an independent assessment route. Contact Asda before arranging your own; an expert charge may apply if no fault is found or Asda/manufacturer did not cause the damage. The amount is unpublished, so ask first.
Asda-installed large electricals have a 12-month installation-service warranty, separate from a product refund window. Installation, assembly and removal already performed are not refunded under George's terms; unperformed services are. Legal remedies remain separate.
What UK law adds
Eligible online purchases generally have a 14-day cancellation period after receipt under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, then 14 days to return the goods after telling the seller, as GOV.UK explains. Standard delivery is refundable; the premium top-up need not be.
The statutory reimbursement rule requires repayment without undue delay, within 14 days of goods receipt or earlier sending evidence; where the trader offers collection, the clock follows cancellation notice. Repayment uses the same method unless expressly agreed otherwise. Exceptions include personalised, rapidly perishable and certain publication goods, unsealed hygiene products and unsealed recordings/software; excessive handling may reduce value.
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 normally gives a 30-day short-term right to reject faulty goods, starting after possession, delivery and any required installation notification are complete. Repair or replacement must be at the trader's expense, within reasonable time and without significant inconvenience. Price reduction or final rejection may follow a failed repair/replacement, unavailable remedies or unreasonable delay. Sale goods retain fault rights.
Keep purchase and return evidence, and confirm unresolved deadlines or refunds with customer service.
Asda Grocery Orders Follow Different Rules
The grocery terms give eligible non-rapidly-perishable goods 30 days from delivery/collection. For quality problems, request through your account within three days or contact the Help Centre; report rapidly perishable problems before use-by/best-before, and loose undated goods within seven days.
Asda's grocery terms word excluded categories inconsistently: one clause mentions four days, while the next restricts returns to faulty/misdescribed goods. Treat chilled, frozen and other excluded goods as fault/misdescription returns only; report promptly under the limits above and confirm with the Help Centre.
Grocery refunds are made within 14 days of receiving goods or collection notice; card visibility can take up to 20 days depending on the bank. That figure does not apply to George. Products bearing Try Me Love Me offer a refund plus an equivalent eVoucher for your next shop, claimed through Asda's Help Centre. If you also order groceries from Tesco, the Tesco return policy guide covers its rules separately.

Questions shoppers ask
Can I return a George.com order to Asda Express?
Asda Express cannot accept George.com returns. Eligible Asda, George and Asda Living locations can take the account-generated QR route, subject to item restrictions. Select a location through the online return process before travelling, and arrange collection instead for collection-only categories such as gaming consoles and home-delivered furniture.
Do George clothes need their tags on to be returned?
George does not publish a universal tags-attached or unworn-and-unwashed rule. Its voluntary condition requires undamaged, saleable goods, all components and original packaging. Keep tags and packaging where possible, stop using the item, and retain any category-specific hygiene seals before requesting a change-of-mind return.
Can I return several George items in one parcel?
George's store-return process lets you select several items and pack them together in one parcel before scanning the emailed QR code. For post, include the delivery note, replacement returns form or order number. The published instructions do not establish that items from separate orders can always be combined.
Does Asda pay the postage if a George item is faulty?
For an eligible faulty postal return, George requires upfront postage payment, then a claim for reasonable return costs. Keep evidence of the postage price, tracking and clear fault photographs, and use its linked form or customer service. Collection-only goods still need arranged collection, even when the return concerns a fault.
Can I return George items I bought in the sale?
No general sale/clearance exclusion or shorter sale window is published for George. Check the item's brand window, condition and category restrictions before returning; the absence of a sale exclusion is not unconditional approval. Sale goods retain the same statutory fault rights, separately from George's voluntary change-of-mind guarantee.
