Dusk Return Policy: 28 Days, Collection Fees and Refunds

The Dusk return policy for UK orders from dusk.com gives 28 days from the day you receive your order to return unused items in original packaging through the online Returns Portal. Evri-delivered small items return free; large items need a Dusk-booked collection, with a fee of up to £39.99 deducted. Mattresses get a separate 100 Night Sleep Trial.

Key facts

  • Scope: this Dusk return policy guide covers DUSK, the UK online home and bedding retailer at dusk.com run by Dusk (Retail) Ltd, not other shops called Dusk. Dusk's returns pages describe only online routes and do not mention returning to a shop.
  • Dusk's consumer returns page gives 28 days from receipt for small and large items; the DUSK Trade returns page says 7 days.
  • Returns start in the Dusk Returns Portal. Orders dispatched or delivered by Evri return free by printed label or at an Evri ParcelShop.
  • Large items: Dusk-booked collection only, disassembled, in original packaging, with up to £39.99 deducted from the refund.
  • Dusk says it processes refunds within 14 days of receiving the return; allow a further 3–5 working days for the money to show. Refunds go to the original payment method.
  • Dusk does not offer exchanges. Faulty items go through the help-centre contact form with photos.

Older guides still quote 30 days; Dusk's consumer returns page says 28. For other retailers, see our UK store return guides.

How Long Do You Have to Return Something to Dusk?

You have 28 days from the day you receive your order, for small and large items alike. Start the return in the Dusk Returns Portal, which Dusk's returns page links to.

Dusk doesn't say whether the 28 days are calendar days, whether the delivery day counts, or what must have happened by day 28: a portal request, a drop-off, a carrier scan or arrival back at Dusk. Start the portal return in the first week and get the parcel dropped off or the collection done well before day 28. Keep proof of postage or collection.

Which Dusk Returns Page Applies: Consumer or DUSK Trade?

Dusk's consumer returns page gives 28 days from the day you receive the order. The DUSK Trade returns page words it differently: 7 days from receipt and a 20% restocking fee on small and large items. Neither page says which customers it governs.

If you can, start the return in the Returns Portal within the first 7 days. If you bought through DUSK Trade, assume the 7-day window and 20% fee apply. Dusk's consumer returns page does not list a restocking fee, though that isn't the same as saying none applies. Your order confirmation and the Dusk Help Centre contact form are the places to confirm which terms cover your order.

Does Dusk Extend Returns for Christmas 2026?

Dusk's returns pages we checked on 29 October 2026 show no Christmas 2026 returns extension; Christmas appears only in delivery banners. Gifts bought now follow the ordinary 28-day rule from delivery, so an early gift order can expire before Christmas Day. Check Dusk's returns page again in November.

What Condition Must Dusk Returns Be In?

Items must go back unused and in their original packaging; furniture must also be disassembled. Dusk's rules differ slightly for the two size groups:

  • Small items (bedding, curtains, stools, storage baskets, towels, accessories): unused, unwashed and in original packaging. Dusk gives hygiene and repackaging as the reason.
  • Large items (bed frames, chairs, sofas, dining tables): original packaging and resaleable condition. Furniture must be disassembled before collection. The DUSK Trade page adds that used or assembled items can't be accepted.

In practice, keep the cardboard packaging for large items until the return window has closed. It is part of the condition rule, and for a fault claim it carries the PO/Batch number Dusk asks for.

Once the item is ready, the route depends on its size.

How to Return a Dusk Order

Returning a Dusk order takes four steps: start the return in the Dusk Returns Portal, send it by the route its size dictates, keep proof, and wait for the refund. The deciding factor is size: small items go back by Evri, and large items need a collection that Dusk books. Faults go through the Dusk Help Centre contact form.

Step 1: Start Your Return in the Dusk Returns Portal

Arrange the return in the Dusk Returns Portal. Dusk doesn't publish a receipt, gift-receipt or ID alternative, so have your order confirmation to hand.

Step 2: Send Small Items Back With Evri

For orders dispatched or delivered by Evri, print the portal label or drop the parcel at an Evri ParcelShop; Dusk says these returns are free. If you use another carrier for a small item, the cost is yours and Dusk doesn't reimburse it. Pack the item unused and unwashed in its original packaging.

Step 3: Book a Dusk Collection for Large Items

Large items go back by a collection booked through Dusk, using the delivery partners it chooses. Dusk says returns sent with other partners are not accepted. Disassemble furniture first and keep it in its original packaging. Dusk deducts the collection fee from your refund.

Step 4: Keep Proof Until the Refund Shows

Keep your proof of postage or collection until the money reaches your account. Dusk asks shoppers to do this, and it is your evidence if the refund is late.

Does Dusk Charge for Returns?

It depends on the route. Returns of Evri-delivered small items through the portal are free, large-item collection costs up to £39.99, deducted from your refund, and your own carrier is at your cost.

Route Charge Source
Evri-dispatched or delivered small items via the portal Free Dusk returns page
Small items sent by another carrier Your own cost, not reimbursed Dusk returns page
Large items, Dusk-booked collection Up to £39.99, deducted from the refund Dusk returns page; help centre quotes £39.99
Mattress under the sleep trial £39.99 deducted Sleep trial page
DUSK Trade orders 20% restocking fee; delivery charges not reimbursed DUSK Trade returns page

The trade page also says FedEx- and Evri-delivered orders return free, and that large items carry no collection charge. Dusk's consumer returns page names Evri for free returns.

Original delivery charges are a separate question. Dusk's returns page says delivery charges are not refunded, and the DUSK Trade returns page says the same (for large items, unless the team says otherwise). Separately, GOV.UK says a seller must refund standard delivery when a customer cancels an online purchase under the statutory 14-day right. If you are cancelling within 14 days of receiving the order, say so when you contact Dusk and ask for the delivery charge back; otherwise don't expect it.

If the collection fee affects where you buy furniture, compare Dunelm's returns policy, another UK retailer of bedding, curtains and furniture.

Items Sent by Dusk's Third-Party Suppliers

Dusk says items dispatched by its trusted third-party suppliers are returned and charged separately. It doesn't say which products, how the return works or what the charge is. Check your order confirmation for who dispatched the item, and contact Dusk before sending anything back.

Returning a Mattress Under Dusk's 100 Night Sleep Trial

A mattress bought from Dusk can be returned under the 100 Night Sleep Trial, which covers mattresses only, not bed frames. Start by contacting Dusk's Customer Service. The trial starts on the day the mattress is delivered, and Dusk deducts £39.99 from the refund for collection. The fee still applies if you're not there for a scheduled collection.

Use a mattress protector for the whole trial. For collection, take the bedsheets off and have the mattress in a dry, accessible room between ground level and level three. You don't need to keep the original packaging.

Dusk may reduce the refund for deterioration including wear, stains, neglect, rust or corrosion from exposure to water or weather, fire or smoke damage, infestation or unauthorised repairs. It says it refunds within 14 days of collection. A faulty or misdescribed mattress goes to Dusk's customer service, and Dusk says the trial doesn't affect your statutory rights.

Example: assume a £500 mattress is returned during the trial with no condition deductions. The refund would be £500 − £39.99 = £460.01.

Dusk's returns page sends mattress returns to the sleep trial and doesn't describe another route, so contact Dusk before returning a mattress outside the trial. If you're comparing mattress trials, see how Next handles its mattress trial and furniture returns.

Whichever route you use, Dusk's refund clock starts when it receives the return, or collects the mattress.

How Long Does a Dusk Refund Take?

Dusk says it processes your refund within 14 days of receiving the return, and you should allow an additional 3–5 working days for it to show in your bank or PayPal account. Dusk emails you to confirm the refund details, and the money goes back to the original payment method. There are three separate clocks:

Clock What it measures Dusk's figure
Return window Time to send the item back 28 days from receipt (DUSK Trade page: 7 days)
Dusk processing Time to issue the refund Within 14 days of receiving the return (sleep trial: of collection)
Bank or PayPal posting Time to show in your account An additional 3–5 working days

"Within 14 days" is a ceiling Dusk sets, not a promise that processing always takes that long.

Klarna and DivideBuy Refunds

If you paid with Klarna, contact Klarna about the refund and any remaining instalments. Dusk's help-centre article says the same for DivideBuy.

What If Your Dusk Refund Hasn't Arrived?

First check the three clocks above: 14 days of processing plus 3–5 working days of posting. Dusk's returns page says to contact Dusk if no refund has arrived within 28 days of the return being sent or collected; the DUSK Trade page says the same. Have your proof of postage or collection ready and use the Dusk Help Centre contact form.

Can You Exchange an Item at Dusk?

No. Dusk doesn't offer exchanges: return the item and place a new order. On a large item, the collection fee means a swap can cost up to £39.99, so check size and colour before ordering.

Faulty or Damaged Dusk Items

Report a faulty or damaged item through the Dusk Help Centre contact form, with photos of the fault and of the DUSK label. For large items, photograph the PO/Batch number on the cardboard packaging as well. Dusk must identify a manufacturing fault, or damage caused by Dusk, its supplier or its delivery partner, to accept liability.

Dusk excludes faults or damage from misuse, negligence, unauthorised alterations, and minor imperfections within industry standards.

Dusk's consumer returns page gives a longer reporting window for faults than the DUSK Trade returns page, which asks for structural faults to be reported within 72 hours of delivery. Inspect everything on delivery and report any fault within 72 hours, with photos. A fault return isn't a change-of-mind return, so don't assume the collection-fee and condition rules above apply; Dusk doesn't publish fault-return costs.

Your Rights Under UK Law

UK law gives you protections separate from Dusk's voluntary 28-day policy. GOV.UK's guidance for sellers says that for online purchases you can tell the seller within 14 days of receiving an item and then have a further 14 days to return it. The seller must refund within 14 days of getting it back, can't deduct fees unless the item was used or damaged, and must refund standard delivery. These rules come from the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Exceptions include personalised or custom-made items and sealed items that can't be returned once opened for health or hygiene reasons. For faulty goods, GOV.UK says the seller must repair or replace an item returned within 6 months, and you can make a claim for up to 6 years (5 in Scotland); the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sits behind this guidance.

StoreReturners can't say how Dusk resolves an individual claim. Dusk's decision on a fault starts with its inspection, so keep your photos and order details.

What Dusk's Returns Pages Don't Say

Several points are unpublished on Dusk's returns pages. Each has a safe action; how we handle gaps like these is explained in how StoreReturners checks policies.

  • Shop returns, receipts, gift receipts and ID: Dusk's returns pages describe only the online portal. Keep your order confirmation to hand.
  • Category exclusions: no list covers sale, clearance, made-to-order, personalised items or gift cards. Ask Dusk before buying.
  • Day counting and deadline action: whether days are calendar days and what must happen by day 28 isn't published. Return early and keep proof.
  • MyDUSK benefits: Dusk's MyDUSK page shows no returns benefits. Confirm any perk with Dusk.
  • Northern Ireland and islands: Dusk says it doesn't deliver there. Contact Dusk before arranging a return.
  • Older orders: Dusk doesn't say which policy version applies to orders placed before a change, and shows no effective date.

Dusk Return Policy Mistakes to Avoid

  • Assuming 30 days. Dusk's consumer page says 28 days from receipt.
  • Booking your own courier for a sofa or bed frame. Dusk refuses large-item returns sent with other partners; for small items another carrier is at your cost.
  • Assembling or using furniture before deciding. Furniture must be disassembled before collection, and used or assembled items can't be accepted, per the DUSK Trade page.
  • Throwing away the cardboard packaging for furniture. It satisfies the condition rule and carries the PO/Batch number for fault claims; sleep-trial mattresses are the exception.
  • Expecting the 28-day rule or an exchange to cover a slept-on mattress. The sleep trial applies instead, with £39.99 deducted.

Questions shoppers ask

Can I return a Dusk order to a shop or without a receipt?

Dusk's returns pages describe only the online Returns Portal. They don't mention shop returns, receipts, gift receipts or ID alternatives. Start the return in the portal, keep your order confirmation to hand and contact Dusk through its help centre if you can't find your order details.

Can I return a Dusk bed frame after assembling it?

Dusk says furniture must be disassembled before collection, and the DUSK Trade page says used or assembled items can't be accepted. Disassemble it and repack it in the original packaging before booking a collection. If it's already assembled and you want to return it, contact Dusk first.

Does Dusk refund the original delivery charge?

Dusk's returns page and the DUSK Trade page both say delivery charges aren't refunded. GOV.UK says standard delivery must be refunded if you cancel an online purchase within the statutory 14 days. If that's your case, say so when you contact Dusk and ask for it.

Can I return Dusk items from Northern Ireland or the islands?

Dusk says it can't deliver to Northern Ireland or the islands, and its returns pages don't describe returns from those areas. If you have an order connected to one of them, contact Dusk through its help centre before arranging a return.

Do MyDUSK members get extra returns benefits?

Dusk's MyDUSK page lists Insider, Trendsetter and Icon tiers with sales access, points events and gift draws, and shows no returns benefits or restrictions. Dusk's ordinary 28-day rule is the safe assumption. If you rely on a member perk, confirm it with Dusk before ordering.

Can I return a Dusk gift card or sale item?

Dusk doesn't publish an exclusion list for gift cards, sale, clearance, made-to-order or personalised items. Used items and items returned outside the window aren't refunded. Silence isn't permission or a ban, so if the answer affects your purchase, ask Dusk before you buy.
