Does Lowe's Price Match Competitors?
Yes. Lowe's Lowest Price Guarantee covers lower current local and online competitor prices on identical, in-stock merchandise Lowe's sells directly, subject to validation.
Lowe's doesn't define an identical-item checklist for model, size or color. Compare model numbers on both listings before asking, then check the seller.
Which competitors does Lowe's match?
Lowe's names Amazon.com direct sales as an example, but publishes no complete competitor list, local mileage radius or same-ZIP requirement. A Home Depot, Walmart or local-store offer needs the same eligibility checks and Lowe's validation; the name alone doesn't secure approval.
The Price Promise exclusions include auction, bidding and closeout/discount sites and membership-wholesaler prices. If you choose to buy from Home Depot instead, check Home Depot's return rules first.
Does shipping count toward the lower price?
Yes. Lowe's returns FAQ includes the item price plus shipping or delivery, and requires the competitor's item to be available to ship to your location. Local matches also require in-stock merchandise.
Example: Assume identical eligible items, delivery to the same address and no sales tax: Lowe's charges $500 plus $40 delivery, while the competitor charges $400 plus $129 delivery. The totals are $540 versus $529, so the competitor is $11 lower, despite a $100 sticker-price gap. Lowe's doesn't publish how an approved difference is split between merchandise and delivery lines.
Lowe's Marketplace and Third-Party Sellers
Lowe's Marketplace products are excluded even though they appear on Lowes.com. Lowe's Online Marketplace Program terms identify those sellers as third parties; the guarantee covers Lowe's own merchandise.
The competitor's seller matters too: Amazon.com direct sales qualify, while third-party Amazon listings don't. Read the seller details on both listings. If buying there instead, consult Amazon's return policy for direct and third-party purchases; the website address alone doesn't settle eligibility at either retailer.
Will a Lowe's Store Match Lowes.com or Another Store?
No. Lowe's website terms say local stores don't honor online pricing, and online and store prices may differ. The Price Promise page excludes matching between Lowe's stores or ZIP codes.
A Lowes.com order's price is set at web checkout. Example: Assume the app shows an item $20 cheaper after you switch ZIP codes; that observation doesn't establish a matchable difference.
How to Ask Lowe's for a Price Match
Lowe's provides two routes: an associate in a store, or chat/phone for Lowes.com orders. Prepare the current competitor offer for validation; eligibility depends on an identical item and qualifying seller, stock and delivered price.
Before asking, gather:
- The competitor listing, showing seller, price and delivery cost after you enter your delivery address on the competitor's site.
- Model numbers from both listings to compare identity.
- Your receipt or order number, if you've paid.
In a Lowe's store
Use Lowe's Find a Store locator to choose a location, then follow the guarantee's in-store route:
- Show an associate the competitor's website, ad, printout or photo.
- Let the associate validate the offer. Wait for approval rather than treating a saved image as guaranteed acceptance.
- Confirm the approved price before paying. If the displayed amount differs, ask the associate to resolve it before checkout finishes.
For Lowes.com orders: chat or phone
Lowe's directs online requests through chat or phone:
- Open Chat With Our Team Now or call 1-877-465-6937. Use a listed route; Lowe's publishes no dedicated app, email or self-service matching form.
- Give the agent the competitor offer, seller and delivery details. Check that the comparison includes delivery rather than only the sticker price.
- Wait for validation and confirm the price before proceeding. After purchase, submit the request yourself as the purchaser.
Example request: Assume a hypothetical SR-200 drill kit and a qualifying Amazon.com offer: "Could you match model SR-200 to Amazon's current $194 delivered price, sold by Amazon.com, at the offer link I'm sharing?" Include your order number if you've already paid.
What proof should you bring?
Lowe's accepts the in-store formats listed in step 1 above; a Lowes.com price isn't competitor proof. For after-purchase requests, the returns FAQ gives no fixed document list, so a receipt or order number is preparation, not a requirement.
What if Lowe's turns down the request?
- Ask which condition failed.
- Recheck the seller, model number, delivery address, stock and excluded promotions.
- Bring corrected evidence back to the associate or the published chat/phone route.
Lowe's publishes no appeal process; approval stays Lowe's decision.
Can You Get a Price Match After You Buy?
Lowe's returns FAQ invites lower-price requests after purchase for validation, with the competitor item able to ship to you; approval isn't automatic. However, the alternate Price Promise page describes matching at the time of purchase: the pages word it differently. Ask before paying whenever possible; otherwise contact chat or 1-877-465-6937 straight away, as the purchaser, and rely on the validating agent's decision.
Lowe's does not say how long after purchase you can ask. No start event, counting rule or deadline is published, so a 30-day adjustment window isn't supported by these pages.
Example: Assume you buy on November 3, 2026, then find an identical Amazon.com direct-sale item on November 9, 2026, at a lower delivered price, available to ship to your address. The FAQ supports requesting validation, but no published rule places November 9 inside or outside a window. Ask that day; neither approval nor protection against Lowe's own markdowns follows automatically.
Does Lowe's adjust its own later price drops?
Lowe's doesn't publish an own-price markdown guarantee or adjustment window. The after-purchase FAQ doesn't separately promise to refund a later Lowe's markdown. Ask chat or phone that day if Lowe's lowers its price; Lowe's doesn't publish a ban either.
What if the price drops before store pickup?
Lowe's pickup FAQ links to the guarantee when asked about price drops between ordering and pickup; it doesn't promise an automatic reduction. Its lower-priced replacement-item refund concerns substitutions, not markdowns. Contact Lowe's before collecting.
What Lowe's Won't Price Match
Lowe's publishes seller, merchandise and promotional exclusions. The table identifies the page behind each restriction so a low advertised price isn't mistaken for an eligible offer.
| Excluded offer or item | Examples | Where Lowe's says it |
|---|---|---|
| Third-party sellers | Lowe's Marketplace; third-party Amazon listings | The Lowest Price Guarantee excludes these sellers. |
| Non-new merchandise | Used, refurbished, open-box | The Price Promise page excludes these conditions. |
| Listed markdown merchandise | Discontinued, clearance, seasonal, closeout, damaged | The Price Promise page lists these categories. |
| Services and custom products | Professional labor/installation; custom-configured products | The Price Promise page separates these from merchandise matching. |
| Promotional packages | Rebates, free offers/gifts, BOGO, multibuy, bundles | The Price Promise page excludes these offers. |
| Tax and special-event promotions | Tax-free events; Spring Black Friday, Black Friday/holiday promotions, including applicable doorbusters | The Price Promise page lists these event exclusions. |
| Restricted or bulk prices | Military/loyalty prices, competitor volume discounts, membership-wholesaler prices | The Price Promise page excludes these prices. |
| Excluded website types | Auction, bidding, closeout/discount sites | The Price Promise page lists these sites. |
| Non-comparable terms | Sales tax, price errors/misprints, credit terms, financing offers | The Price Promise page excludes these comparisons. |
| Combining Lowe's offers | Other promotions, discounts or coupons alongside matching | The Lowest Price Guarantee prohibits combining offers. |
| Other Lowe's locations | Another store or ZIP code | The Price Promise FAQs reject these comparisons. |
Read the Price Promise exclusions and FAQs for those rows. Lowe's may limit requests to reasonable quantities, but publishes no numeric per-item, order, person or repeat-request cap; ask about your quantity. No standalone rule covers every competitor coupon or limited-quantity sale, so request validation rather than assume.
Coupons, MyLowe's Rewards and Lowe's Credit Cards
Lowe's coupons and other offers don't combine with a match. The MyLowe's Rewards Credit Card footnotes exclude the Lowest Price Guarantee and discretionary adjustments from the everyday 5% and new-account 20% offers. The business-credit footnotes apply those exclusions to the 5% offer on the MyLowe's Pro Rewards American Express Card, MyLowe's Pro Rewards Credit Card and Lowe's Commercial Account.
Lowe's membership terms generally prohibit combining personal/Pro reward benefits with matching unless expressly allowed; HomeCare+ 5% also excludes matching. Being a member or cardholder doesn't by itself add a discount to a match. No longer member/cardholder price-protection window is published; confirm timing with Lowe's rather than borrowing credit-linked return terms.
Example: Assume the card's 5% applies to a $200 item, a qualifying match is $194, and delivery/tax are equal. The card-only price is $200 × 0.95 = $190, saving $4 more than matching. The discounts can't be combined.
Can you use MyLowe's Money on a matched price?
Lowe's pages word it differently. The consumer-credit footnote allows MyLowe's Money redemption alongside other discounts, offers and coupons, while the Lowest Price Guarantee prohibits combining matching with other Lowe's offers. The website terms allow expressly provided exceptions without reconciling this combination. Ask the associate or chat/phone agent before redeeming, and settle which saving to use before checkout.
How Lowe's Pays the Price Difference
Lowe's doesn't publish an adjustment's payout method, processing/posting time or sales-tax recalculation in its after-purchase FAQ. Don't assume cash, card or store credit.
| Stage | What Lowe's publishes |
|---|---|
| Request | Store, chat or phone validation |
| Request deadline | Not published |
| Payout method | Not published |
| Lowe's processing time | Not published |
| Bank or card posting time | Not published |
The returns page's seven-business-day guidance concerns completed returns, not adjustments. Check your receipt, order history and statement; ask the agent how payment will appear and contact Lowe's customer service if no credit shows.
Price Matching and Your Lowe's Return Window
Lowe's returns FAQ doesn't say whether an adjustment changes later return eligibility, restarts the clock, changes the refund basis or affects how the earlier adjustment is deducted. Keep the approval details and ask Lowe's to confirm the return calculation.
Example: Assume a $120 purchase receives a $15 adjustment: $120 − $15 = $105 is net outlay, not a promised return refund. Lowe's also publishes no adjustment-specific unopened-item condition; the competitor's open-box exclusion doesn't establish one.
Our Lowe's return policy guide covers return windows, the major-appliance rule, returns without a receipt, return fees and refund timing. Neither the guarantee nor the FAQ describes return-and-rebuy as a matching route.
Black Friday and Holiday 2026 Sales at Lowe's
Lowe's October 8, 2026 holiday announcement gives these sale dates:
- Black Friday savings start October 29, 2026.
- 12 Days starts November 16, 2026.
- Public doorbusters begin November 27, 2026; members get online access a day earlier.
- December Deal Drops run December 3–24, 2026.
These are sale dates, not protection dates. The Price Promise page excludes Black Friday, Spring Black Friday and holiday/special-event promotions; a sale announcement doesn't override that restriction.
Is there a 2026 holiday price guarantee at Lowe's?
No separate 2026 holiday price guarantee was published as of October 29, 2026. The release describes sales and member perks, without a holiday matching/protection period. A later offer could appear, so check the guarantee page before relying on protection.
Lowe's Lowest Install Project Price Guarantee
Lowe's Lowest Install Project Price Guarantee separately covers qualifying comparable single-family residential installation projects, at Lowe's discretion. The comparison covers the whole project; product and labor can't be matched separately. Products, materials, specifications and installation standards must be substantially similar, including quality, performance and warranty coverage. The competitor needs a local storefront, licensing, insurance and authorized product sales.
- Quoted projects: Flooring, cabinets, countertops, windows and doors require valid Lowe's and competitor estimates from the last 30 days, showing address, specifications, scope and total.
- Non-quote projects: Appliances, fixtures, fans and toilets require current competitor documentation, website or ad showing product and installation charges for the installation address.
Excluded services include solar/battery, EV charging, roof-tarp-only, wet-carpet removal, wet-drywall-cutback-only, plumbing disconnect/reconnect-only and HVAC tune-up/repair-only. Referral-only networks, independent general contractor/subcontractor bids, private handypeople, liquidation merchandise, commercial, multifamily and multi-address work are excluded; ordinary seller/promotion restrictions also apply. Lowe's contract controls.
The 30-day estimate age applies only to installation quotes; it isn't a merchandise price-match window.
Lowe's Price Match Policy Mistakes to Avoid
These shortcuts conflict with Lowe's published rules:
- Asking a store to match Lowes.com pricing.
- Comparing sticker prices without delivery.
- Using a Marketplace or third-party offer.
- Counting on a 30-day or holiday protection window.
- Stacking the card's 5% or a coupon with matching.
Lowe's price match policy centers on an identical, in-stock item and a validated lower delivered price. Ask before paying when possible. If you've already paid, submit the request yourself promptly, keeping the timing wording difference in mind. Choose between matching and incompatible discounts before checkout.
Lowe's validates each request, while published pages leave timing, payout and later-return accounting unresolved. Our guide compares those published rules; how we check retailer policies explains the approach behind the answers below.
Questions shoppers ask
Does Lowe's price match Home Depot?
Lowe's doesn't name Home Depot or publish a full competitor list. A Home Depot offer needs to meet the general criteria: identical, in stock, current, able to ship to you and outside excluded promotions. Ask Lowe's to validate it before buying; a retailer name alone doesn't guarantee acceptance.
Does Lowe's match warehouse-club or membership prices?
Lowe's Price Promise page excludes membership-wholesaler prices, restricted military or loyalty prices, and competitor volume discounts. A membership-only price therefore falls under a listed exclusion. Check whether the offer you're showing is restricted to members before asking; don't assume a publicly visible listing makes that price eligible for everyone.
Will Lowe's beat a competitor's price?
Lowe's US pages promise a match on eligible items, without publishing an additional percentage reduction. No extra 10% price-beat benefit is stated. Compare the delivered totals and ask for validation of the qualifying price; Canadian flyer offers don't establish the terms for a United States purchase.
Can someone else ask for the price match for me?
After purchase, Lowe's says requests must come directly from the person who made the purchase. Submit the request yourself through chat or the published phone route. Having another person find the offer doesn't replace the purchaser-only submission requirement, and no third-party filing exception is published in the FAQ.
Does any law require Lowe's to price match?
No price-match-specific statutory entitlement was identified for this guide; Lowe's published guarantee supplies the request route. The FTC's online-shopping guidance advises checking sellers' price-matching and later-sale promises. That guidance isn't a mandate requiring Lowe's to match a price, and this guide makes no broader state-law claim.
